'Di! I want your brother out of this house right now!' Screamed a highly irritated Khushi, descending down the stairs in the early hours of morning, shaking the very foundation of Shantivan.
Anjali Jha, who had woken up for the morning pooja, was startled at her cries. Now what? She wondered.
Khushi's screams and tantrums, her accusations and fights with Arnav had become a frequent occurrence in Shantivan lately. Courtesy to Khushi's mood swings in her late trimesters of pregnancy.
Anjali noticed a wobbling Khushi trying her best to descend the stairs with careful steps, but her heavy belly did not let her to. She even saw Arnav trailing behind her with his eyes half open and half closed, probably due to the lack of sleep, she deciphered. But his face screamed the worry for his wife, and when was about to reach her to provide some support, Khushi shrugged his hands off her.
'Khushi, careful! You might fall', he bellowed.
'I dont want to talk to you. Just go away!' She cried, tears cascading down her cheeks.
Anjali, instantly went to her sister-in-law, who was in no mood to get any support from her brother.
'Khushi, what happened? Why are you crying?' She asked concerned, as she could never tolerate a single tear from her eyes. After all Khushi was the most important person to her, even more than her Chote!
'Di, ask your brother to get out of this house this instant!' She warned.
'Chote! What did you do? Dint I tell you earlier, that Khushi needs her every wish to be fulfilled? Why do you always neglect her?' She chided.
'Di, I..', before he could be heard, his sister and wife found their way towards the living room.
'Khushi, you dont worry. I will make sure he fulfils your needs', Anjali consoled.
'But what happened?' Shyam Jha, Anjali's husband, Khushi's brother like cousin, came right on time, much to Arnav's relief.
'Jiju, your sister', he replied wearily.
'Another tantrum? Mood swings?' He asked Arnav, whispering, lest heard by their wives, they would be taken to tasks.
Arnav nodded a yes, his sleep finally kissing him bye.
'Bhai!' Khushi cried calling out for her brother, who was at her side instantaneously.
'Arnav, will you tell me what has happened?' Shyam finally decided to put an end to this.
'I will tell you', Khushi volunteered. 'I just asked for jalebis Di. Lucknow waali', she pouted.
'Chote! This is not even a demand! Cant you do this much?' Anjali admonished.
'Khushi, there is something more to it, isnt it?' Shyam asked as he knew his brother-in-law who would turn the world upside down for his wife, Jalebis were nothing!
Khushi slowly raised her lids at Arnav, who was smirking at her, proud of his jiju. He always understood him better than anyone.
'I... I need the Lucknowi jalebi', she confessed with her eyes downcast.
'So? That should not be a problem right? We shall get them right now from the shop in the next lane', Anjali suggested the solution. But was it really easy? Nah! When was Khushi ever easy on Arnav?
'She wants me to get jalebis from Lucknow Di. And that too right now', Arnav stated after a long moment of silence.
'What?' Now it was the time of shock for Shyam and Anjali.
