He woke up startled, with the noise of his room doors being opened all of a sudden in the middle of the night, and before he could squint his eyes and check who it was, he was embraced in a tight hug. His arms wrapped around the soft body, cuddling to it, inhaling the jasmine scent while his cheeks were tickled by the lustrous hair.'I missed you Khushi', he mouthed, absorbing the warmth that she emanated.
'I missed you too Arnavji!' She reciprocated, her voice being the proof of what she uttered.
Slowly coming out of the hug, their eyes locked, both engrossed to find their way into each other's heart!
A few moments later, he raised his hands to cup her face and placed a gentle kiss on her forehead, letting it lingering there for a while, whilst her eyes closed shut automatically with his touch. She so missed this!
His lips marked her face with the kisses, finally resting onto her petals, before diving in to express all the pent up feelings that he kept under wrap during her absence.
Withdrawing himself a little, his mind resolved to take his fill up by admiring the beautiful face of his wife, but to his puzzlement, there was no one in his vicinity.
'What the!' Arnav Singh Raizada muttered, now fully awake and groaned at yet another imagination of his wife returning back home to him!
He tossed on the bed to check the time that displayed 3 am in the morning. Another sleepless night, he sighed.
Seven long days! One whole week! 168 hours!
Khushi had been to her Maayka, Lucknow since a week and Arnav grew restless every second.
He was missing her! Very badly! He wanted to embrace her and stay in her arms as long as he could. But there was work laid on his table. Piles of files to be signed. Designs were waiting to be approved. A fashion show in the next two days. Only if he worked for atleast sixteen hours a day, he would get things done. He was that busy. But, he was missing his wife. His wife, who was his medicine, his cocoon, his safe place, his home, his solace. Without her, sleep was very far from him!
She had gone to attend her best friend Preeto's wedding leaving him stranded and sulking at Delhi. Letting her go was not his choice, but he was not the dominating husband, an understanding one to respect her feelings! She so wanted to be there and he could never deny her! And now he sat cursing his decision!
A shrill ring from his phone brought him out of his reverie. The clock struck eight in the morning. His cup of finished black coffee laid on the low lying table near his recliner.
'Khushi', he breathed into the call. 'I am missing you badly', he pouted, something that Arnav Singh Raizada did not know to do until his marriage to his wife.
'Arnavji', her chirpy tone never failed to brighten up his mood. 'Just three more days and I will be there!'
'I cannot wait anymore! Its been a week already!' Arnav exhaled, disappointment and helplessness laced in his tone.
She understood his craving as she too was undergoing the same! Parting with her husband for one whole week was something new and she did not like any bit of it! The only solace for her were the pre wedding rituals that tired her to sleep.
'Acha! Now tell me, how are the preparations for the fashion show going on?' Khushi tried diverting the topic.
'Dont even get me started!' He sighed, 'There is so much to do but your absence makes it all the more intolerable'. After his marriage, he never shied to express his genuine feelings, atleast to his wife!
