Author's POV:

Tires screech as Nick pulls into a McDonald's drive-thru in his freshly cleaned, red convertible with Eric sitting in the passenger seat. A woman's voice sounds from the speaker to greet the customers and take their order.

"Welcome to McDonald's. What can I get for you today?"

"Hmm, not sure yet, but your number sounds just as delicious as that sweet voice of yours, baby." Nick grins as the woman's eyes widen for a moment due to being taken off guard by the compliment before rolling them at the flirtatious man. She was thankful she wasn't visible at the moment nonetheless, since her face had heated just a bit. Though his pick up line was cheap, his smooth voice was enough to get her flustered. The dark-haired male laughs at the moment of silence given. "We'll just be a second, sweetheart."

"Take your time." She mutters before shaking her head with an inaudible sigh. Nick turns to Eric, draping his arm over the back of the seat as the brunette peers into his wallet to see what he can get off the menu. He felt his heart sink at the amount. "Hey, how much money do you have?"

"Oh, like sixty-nine cents."

A snort of a laugh escapes Nick's lips, and he covers his mouth with the back of his wrist in attempts to contain the rest of his laughter.

"Oop! You know what that means!"

Eric sniffles and drops his wallet onto his lap as tears well in his eyes. He covers his face with both his hands and, through a sob, he exclaims,

"I don't have enough money for chicken nugget!"
