Chapter 37: Missing
C A M I L A
Thankfully, Mr. Price scared off the paparazzis and Axel's fans by his mere appearance just outside the front door.
After the strangers were out of earshot, I faced Axel with a deadpan look on my face. "What was that about?"
"Someone posted that video of me defending you and now my manager's mad," he explained gravely
"Why? Can't he just schedule a press con explaining that it was nothing?" I suggested
He shook his head. "It's not that easy in my case Camila."
"Why can't you just admit that you dated two girls at once?" Zach intruded rudely
Axel glowered at him. "Watch your mouth, Parker."
"How did you know his last name?" I asked curiously
"Don't waste my time! Get inside NOW!" Mr. Price demanded
The three of us obiently followed him with Axel in front and Zach muttering angrily behind me.
This is all my fault......
I was blown away by the size of the living room which was almost as big as my house. It had a white ceiling with impeccable mandala patterned tiles that were still clean even after my slightly greasy sneakers stepped on it. The one thing that caught my eye the most was the majestic chandelier that was made up of around fifty twinkling crystals.
My eyes left the chandelier and darted to my friends who were all staring at me as if waiting for me to do something. I then realised that they were waiting for me to join them which made me jog to the collection of long black sofas where they all sat.
Once I was with them, Mr. Price looked daggers at me. "Do you know what you've done?"
I felt everyone's eyes on me which made my cheeks burn. "N-Not exactly."
Zach abruptly stood up. "You're his manager, can't you fix this without blaming Cam?"
Mr. Price's attention diverted to Zach. "I'm the one in charge which means you do as I say."
As most people in the room barked at each other, I felt a vibration in my pocket. I took my phone out of my pocket and looked at my notifications.
The latest one was a message sent by Zach on Instagram which made me take my eyes off my phone to give him a confused glance. He remained silent despite the fact that we were surrounded by people who spoke on top of each other.
I played the video he sent me forgetting to lower the volume. It seemed that Driana Bregetti's- Axel's ex girlfriend -booming voice from the video was the only why to shut everyone up. I had to squint a couple of times before I clearly saw that she was up on stage with Axel behind her.
Driana: You all are so right to award him the best actor award. After all, he's been acting like a great boyfriend but then I found this.
A picture of Axel kissing another girl on the cheek appeared on the screen behind them. The audience reacted angrily as a wave of boos rolled in.
Driana: I can't believe-
But before the video can finish, a pale skinny hand snatched my phone which happened to be Mr. Price's. He shot me a look that sent chills to my bones before he gently placed it down on the table.
"All of you can leave except for Camila," Mr. Price announced as Jared and Kye walked out of the room almost immediately but Zach stayed put. "That includes you too."
"If I stay he stays," I spoke up for the first time in this meeting. "And can I have my phone back now?"
Mr. Price let out an exaggerated sigh before giving me back my phone. "Fine he can stay but dont think that you can talk to me with that tone again young lady."
"Where's Miller?" Zach asked
A livestream popped up on my feed which included Axel and some of the paparazzis we saw earlier today. It was easy to find out where he was since I spotted the tall gates.
I ran out the front doors and just as I suspected, Axel was outside the gates with paparazzis throwing all sorts of questions at him.
"Is she really your girlfriend?" One of them asked
Since I didn't want to stick around for this question, I turned on my heel but stopped when I heard Axel's response.
"No she's not but she is important to me so stop draging her into this because she doesn't deserve any of it."
-
"That's so cute!" Chloe squealed as she burried her head in one of her extremely soft pillows.
"There's just something about him that makes me think that this isn't the first time I've met him," I replied as I paced back and forth
Chloe rolled over so that she was looking up at her bedroom's white painted ceiling. "But that's crazy don't you think?"
"Crazy or not there's still something about him that I can't explain."
The sound of my phone ringing took my mind off the whole Axel thing which was great in a way. I looked at the caller ID but the number that appeared wasn't familiar to me but I picked it up anyway.
"Hello?" I answered in a shaky tone
"Mila! I need your help!" I could sense the panic in Skylar's tone
"This sounds like a prank call Sky," I said
"Come to the abandoned factory with five hundred thousand dollars if you still want your cousin to live," A deep toned voice spoke with Skylar's screams interfering in the background.....
