Anchoring vessel beyond javelin strike,
storm-eyed Penelope strides swift to bow,
her anger palpable, fierce her dislike
but suppress she must, disgust disavow.
With authoritative voice unshaken,
she offers men a chance for survival,
well supplied will they be, not forsaken
though ship will be wrecked beyond revival.
Will generous offer be accepted?
Hard to predict untrustworthy pirates.
Most men seem relieved, few are dejected
but one with audacity, lewdly states:
'Include six sea-whores and we will accept,
