'Enough of that!' commands Penelope.
'Nought will be solved by futile quarrelling.
Curb your accusations and jealousy,
cast aside trivial trifling and quibbling.'
Being thus chastised, the quarrellers subside,
full ashamed of unseemly behaviour.
Action devised and the search authorised,
they begin hunt for ring-bearing saviour.
Ampelios is found, troubled at prow,
tightly coiled as in uterus, stowed deep.
Silenced they are seeing proud man so cowed,
so humbled by grief, even gods would weep.
Ampelios when called, lifts eyes, agonised,
cringes to see, crew have him scrutinised.
