Love is not true love without empathy.
Though many believe their feelings are real
when pity or kindness is all they feel -
true love must be more than mere sympathy. How do I explain that although I care,
my caring is simple civility,
a guileless case of generosity.
To claim it as more is more than unfair, far worse than unfair, it is selfishness,
for you argue to keep your gravy train,
a loss that cancels my own trifling pain -
how is it you wonder at my distress?Deep grieving? It was ended long ago
when you chose to murder Joy, enthrone Sorrow.
