Louis woke up to a silent house and smiled to himself. He liked the quiet, not because almost everyone was gone, but rather it meant that Niall had slept peacefully through the night.

It had been about a month since they brought Niall into their home, and it has been a time. Louis and Harry have both managed how to handle three boys, but it was a series of trials and tribulations. Louis and Harry, however, did sign the paper to officially adopt Niall about a week and a half ago, so that is one part of their life that is done. They were officially parents to three beautiful young boys.

Now Harry took the boys in the mornings and Louis stayed home with Niall. In the afternoon, Louis would go pick up Zayn and come back home whereas Liam would get picked up by Harry since he started playing football and rugby at school. Harry and Louis had asked if Zayn wanted to do any sports or activities, but it seemed as though Zayn was completely content staying at home. Besides, Zayn had taken a strong liking to Niall.

Louis stretched and got out of bed, knowing that it was his day with Niall. He yawned as he walked into the baby’s room, and was surprised to see Niall staring up at him with wide eyes.

“Hey there bub,” Louis whispered as he reached down to grab the young child. “How’s my little guy doing?”

Niall gurgled in response, his fight immediately lighting up when he saw Louis. Niall was a fairly energetic and happy go lucky baby. He didn’t cry an awful lot, but he did have his fits. Usually it involved one of his brothers taking his toys, but that’s about it. If anything Niall laughs; all the time.

Louis placed Niall in his swing and ran to the kitchen to get food. He heard Niall whine for a moment, but when he came back with a jar of baby food, Niall squealed with joy, kicking his legs for emphasis.

“Well isn’t someone excited for mashed corn and peas?” Louis said in that tone of voice that adults use to talk to babies. He unscrewed the lid of the baby food and began to feed Niall. Louis made up his own little games as he sat on the floor with Niall in the swing.

Louis joyfully fed his son and when Niall was done, Louis grabbed his laptop and sat on the floor leaving Niall in the swing on a low setting so he could take a nap. Louis knew a few things about babies: they like to poop, love to sleep, and were eaters of any kind.

As Niall slept, his father worked on some more columns for work as long as the children books he had not put aside a few months ago. Louis had delved back into this side hobby considering the fact he had some free time to be constructive. Louis loved it; spending time at home and being around his new baby and watching him experience things.

Louis loved the time he spent with Niall. Some days, he would sit by the window and point at random things and tell Niall what they were. Other days, he would let Niall lay on his stomach as they watched TV, and Louis just loved having a baby. It made me him wonder what Liam and Zayn were like as babies.

With that being said, Louis wouldn’t have another one.

Now, Louis and Harry loved Niall, as did Liam and Zayn, but such a little tyke causes a lot of drama. Harry and Louis were always on edge considering they had a six year old, a five month old, and Zayn who was only one day away from turning four.

Louis knew today Zayn was going to let him and Harry decide what he wanted to do for his big day. Louis smiled to himself as he whipped out his laptop, working not only on his columns, but also some of his stories.

Louis hadn’t given up on becoming a writer, but life was just too important to miss right now. Louis knew he’d have to take a breather and focus on the kids and Harry, but writing was just too important.
