She continued to wonder about the dog's mission until Halloween, when a troll got into Hogwarts,
"Troll... in the dungeons... thought you ought to know." He said before he fainted. Immediately she could tell that Quirrell was fake fainting and after sending Draco along with the rest of the Slytherins she spelled herself invisible and followed him when he 'woke'. He headed straight to the 3rd floor and the three headed dog. What shocked Weiss was her uncle intercepting the man, who was obviously aiming to steal whatever was being hidden. She watched as her uncle chased off Quirrell but got bitten by the dog on the leg. She made her way back to the other Slytherin's who didn't even notice she was missing.
The night before the big match between Slytherin and Gryffindor Edelweiss made her way down to her uncle's office, wearing a hooded cloak so that she wouldn't be recognized. She knocked on the door and his voice snapped from behind it.
"Come in." She pushed open the door, her uncle was stirring a cauldron his face scrunched up in pain.
"Uncle Severus." She said and he looked up at her.
"Edel. What are you doing here?" He frowned at her, confused by her sudden appearance when typically at school they had no interaction apart from classes. In which they were student and teacher.
"I'm here because you can't possibly treat a giant dog bite by yourself." She snapped taking over brewing the potion, an Invigorating Draught which she wasn't supposed to know how to brew yet.
"How do you know about that damn dog? You're not allowed on the 3rd floor." He questioned, irately. She laddled a scoop of the draught into a cup and shoved it into his hand.
"Because of Draco's stupid stunt with Harry over the Longbottom's things. I don't even want to try to explain, but Draco and him were meant to duel and Filch found them. Harry and his friends fled finding the door." She explained, taking a sip of the potion herself.
"So now Potter knows about that 3 headed beast." Severus growled, it was obvious he didn't like the dog.
"Yes, thanks to Granger they know that he's guarding something, but not what it is. And neither do I unless you'd prefer to explain so that I can keep them from going after it while you focus on Quirrell." Severus glared at the girl who took out her wand and muttered a spell. "Vulnera Sanentur." The gashes on his leg healed in an instant and Severus glowered.
"Fine but don't even think about going near that dog or go after Quirrell. He's mine, I have to pay him back for getting me bit anyway." A knock sounded on the door. Edelweiss made quick use of her invisibility spell and watched as Harry walked into the room nervously.
"Professor. I was wondering if I could have my book back?" He asked jumpily. Severus grabbed the book from his desk and handed it to him coldly.
"Now get out." He snapped and Harry bolted out of the room. Edelweiss released the spell and turned back to her uncle.
"You don't need to be that hard on him Uncle Severus. I know my dad was an ass back in school, but Harry's a pretty nice kid." She said prompting a glare from the potion's master. "But you can continue to hate him if you really want. He'll just continue to suspect you for everything and in general come to hate you as well." She shrugged, "I have to go. Have fun dealing with Professor Quirrell." She walked out and waved with the back of her hand.
