"Here you are, Spinel," White Diamond said, reaching her arm out with the little red gem in her hand, giving Spinel a great few of her palace.
Spinel looked around in awe. Her palace was beautiful. And very pink. Spinel jumped from White's palm and onto the ground several feet below. Unharmed from the high fall, she ran around in every room. Jumping up and down like it was a bounce house.
Everyday Spinel would get better and better. Her color was beginning to brighten from red to pink. Her smile began less and less whacky as her sanity was getting better. But like Steven told Spinel not too long ago, happy ever afters don't exist.
Three years later...
The mace swung past her head, hitting the wall behind her. Cussing and threats from the mace's owner yelling from down the hallway. Spinel gasped when she realized how close the mace was to her. If she poofed, there was no doubt this gem would've shattered her.
"You-" the gem summoned another mace. "Are not-" she swung it over her head. "PINK DIAMOND!" and the mace came swinging down.
Thankfully for Spinel's stretchy body, she leaped out of the way fast enough, bouncing off the wall, and coming back to give the gem a punch in the face. Spinel sent the gem flying backwards, hitting the window behind her and cracking it.
"Oh look at what you did!" Spinel giggled, hopping over to the injured unknown gem. "You're ruining my palace!" the angry Spinel grabbed the other gem by her shirt collar and lifted her in the air. "I can't stand you kind of gems! Just because a precious Diamond isn't sitting in the throne you all go nutes!" Spinel threw the gem down the hallway.
The gem crashed onto the floor, skidding across the ground a few yards. The gem caught her breath and summoned her mace again, breathing heavily. "Spinels aren't made to run Homeworld! Only Diamonds are! You are ruining our experiment and destroying Homeworld!"
Spinel cranked her neck, and than extened it so her face was a few inches from her rivals. "Experiment? What kind of experiment are you planning?" Spinel grabbed the hood around the gem's face, hiding her identity. The gem backed away, swinging the mace again and this time hitting Spinel.
Spinel screamed from the hit, bringing her head back to her body. She clamped her hand over her cheek, ripped apart from the weapon.
"It isn't for your kind to know," the gem answered. "But when it is complete, you will be gone. The Diamonds will throw you back on Earth and forget all about you. Just like Pink Diamond did."
Spinel screamed in rage, flinging her arms down the hallway and wrapped them around the gem. "TAKE IT BACK! TAKE IT BACK!"
The gem accidently dropped her mace from trying to get out of Spinel's grip. "You know it! The Diamonds are known for this! Do you really think they've changed? Nobody changes Spinel."
Tears streamed down Spinel's cheeks, her color slowly fading. "NO!" she squeezed her arms as tightly as she could, poofing the gem. The gem fell to the ground, making a clank that echoed down the hallway. Spinel fell to her knees, surprised an unknown gem got to her so much. It wasn't the first time someone tried to kill her for taking over the pink throne.
Taking a deep breath she wiped her tears and walked down the hallway to see what gem was attacking her. "Oh... I should have known," Spinel reached down, grabbing the two gems. "You two very confused Pearls. Lets get you back to your Diamonds..." as Spinel was walking down the hallway, the pearls began to glow. Spinel dropped them in shock, surprised they were forming so quickly.
Blue and Pink Pearl lowered to the ground, opening their eyes at the same time with the same disappointed look on their face. She wasn't much taller than the pearls, when she first came back to Homeworld she was their exact height.
