The Launch Pad finally landed on Earth. Ellie helped Spinel out of the ship, who was still concered for Steven.
"She will shatter him!" Spinel kept repeating.
"Don't worry! I have the time gem to have us go back in time and save him. We just need to fix your gem first. If we don't we can't save Steven," Ellie said.
"Rose."
"What?"
"Rose should be here. Your Rose Quartz," Spinel rubbed her head.
You're right, she'll still be here after we save Steven," Ellie said. Ellie dragged the broken Spinel down a long pathway and to a half working fountain. "Odd. You'd think the Crystal Gems would keep this place neat."
I'm sure they gave up when they found out Rose was Pink. I would too if I were them, Spinel thought to herself, she kept thinking bad thoughts until they were washed away by Ellie tossing Spinel into the fountain. The water was freezing cold from sitting in the darkness for so long and barley moving for years. It felt nice though, like a warm soft gem wrapped her arms around Spinel. Suddenly Spinel hated the feeling, stretched her arms to the ledge, and pulled herself out.
"We need to destroy this thing!" Spinel said harshly.
"Destroy? What the hell do you mean? This saved and will save many other gems!" Ellie argued. "We can talk about it after we deal with the problem."
Again, they made their way to the launch pad and headed back to the ship. It was silent for most of the ride. Spinel kept thinking about how Steven was being shattered by Chrysocolla right now, or was, or is. "Who took Steven again? Was it Blue or Yellow?"
"Blue Diamond," Ellie said. "I heard her speak. Of course it was Blue, I heard she cried for years after Pink pretended to be shattered."
"It took a toll on her. I don't think she got over it yet," Spinel said.
Blue's ship finally came in view. "Where's the Crystal thingy? Should we use it now?" Spinel asked impatiently.
Ellie reached behind the seat. "It's right here. I want to wait until we get there, to make sure we do this right."
Spinel couldn't wait any longer. She wanted to go back and save Steven. Even though he hated her right now. "Why can't we just go back... like... waaaaaay before?"
"What... when?" Ellie asked.
"When the Diamonds asked me to rule with them? we can rig the palace and make it explode, killing all the Diamonds!"
"We can't do that!" Ellie snapped. "Do you know the chaos that'll bring?"
"I don't care! It seems like the only way to stop them from destroying Earth!" Spinel went to grab the crystal, but the ship landed. They were here.
Ellie quickly grabbed the crystal and jumped out of the ship. She didn't wait for Spinel, she just started running inside.
"Hey! Wait!" Spinel crawled out of the ship and followed Ellie closely behind. "Do you even know where you're going?" She's probably been here before, Spinel thought to herself. Ellie made a sharp left, and so did Spinel. But something made her stop dead in her tracks.
Ellie slowly walked towards herself and handed her the time crystal. The two Ellies looked over at Spinel, trying to find words. "Spinel... I'm sorry."
"Wait... why are there two of you? We didn't even go back in time yet!" Spinel said.
"You didn't. But I did. I went back in time a lot. I kept seeing so many flaws... I think this is the only way to fix everything," Ellie said.
Spinel looked at the two. "By doing... what?"
The second Ellie spoke up. "We're going back in time, 6,000 years ago. Everything Pink Diamond caused... so much pain..." she gestured towards Spinel. "Me and... myself have come up with a plan. We're going to reset Pink Diamond."
"And I'm going to be the one doing it," a strong voice said from behind Spinel. Spinel jumped in the air and turned around, frightened by the sudden voice. It was Ellie's Rose Quartz. "I will have easy access to her. I was her Rose Quartz after all. With the weapon you used to poof the Crystal Gems, I will use it on Pink Diamond. We can only go back so far with the time crystal. We just have enough power to go back in time to when Pink Diamonds gets Earth. She will have already fell in love with it. I will poof her with your weapon, and keep her in a bubble, and shape shift and take her place, until Earth is destroyed from Homeworlds... stuff... and I will free her."
It took a minute for Spinel to process everything. She was speechless. Ellie was never going to save Steven, she just wanted to come back here to meet up with everyone.
"Are you in?" the second Ellie asked.
"Are you going to go back with us?" Ellie asked. "Or be your old self?"
"I... we can't do this!" Spinel cried. "We can't kill Pink Diamond! What about everything Steven fought for? Freedom for gems? Equal rights-" suddenly something popped into Spinel's head. "But I... understand. No matter how much we go back in time and try to fix everything- we can't. Pink Diamond ruined everything, and her not being there is the only way to fix everything."
"I'm so glad you understand, Spinel," Ellie said, rushing towards her. "I really didn't want to leave you behind."
Spinel forced a smile. "So... what do I have to do?"
"Just be yourself. I'm sure the new environment will make you back to your old self. Also, Pink Diamond will be better to you," Rose winked.
Spinel tried to think positive. She wasn't too excited to re-live 6,000 years.
