Imma just leave this here cause it's true ☝️

The ship settled on the ground and Spinel immediately ran off of it. She sprinted towards the temple, she didnt care if the Crystal Gems saw her and gave her nasty looks. She just wanted to see Steven. After everything Howlite said she wanted to make sure she was wrong.

Spinel swung the door open to the temple. She was glad she knew it like the back of her hand because her vision was still bad.

"Spinel? There you are!" Steven ran up to her, wrapping his arms around her. "I was so worried! I thought I would never see you again!" Steven said, squeezing her harder.

Though Spinel couldn't fully see him, she could tell by his voice he was glad to see her. Spinel returned the hug and closed her eyes. "Lapis attacked me."

"What?" Steven pulled away from the hug, looking into her eyes.

"Lapis is one of the gems that are trying to kill me! She told me herself!" Spinel cried. Since her vision was already so blury she didn't realize she was crying again.

"Okay, okay. Calm down. Let's fix your gem first," Steven paused for a moment, scanning the broken heart shaped gem. Then he lowered himself and placed his lips against the cold gem. Spinel slightly flinched at the feeling, and then her gem began glowing. Steven backed away and watched her gem heal itself for a few moments.

Within seconds Spinel's vision was back and so was her energy. "Th-thank you!" Spinel said.

Steven gave her a small smile as a 'you're welcome.' "So what were you saying about Lapis? She's one if them?"

Spinel sighed, lowering her head. "That's what she said. Except she doesn't care I'm helping the Diamonds. She said she wanted me gone because I ruined her life. She was finally accepting her new life as a Crystal Gem and I suddenly come in and destroy it. I would be mad too."

"No!" Steven placed his hand on her shoulder. "This isn't you're fault!"

"That's what Howlite said..."

"Howlite?"

"She brought me here. She said everything I did was on an impulse and it wasn't my fault," Spinel crossed her arms over her chest, remembering everything she said about Steven. "Have you left someone behind?"

Steven lowered his hand. "To protect them. But I didnt necessarily leave then behind I just... separated myself from them for a bit."

"I know I know! Why am I even questioning you? You're nothing like you're mother..."

There was a long painful pause.

"Do you think I'm going to leave you?"

Spinel shook her head. "No. I don't. I'm just overthinking. Well... thanks for healing me. I should get back to Homeworld."

"But what about those gems like Lapis? You should stay here until White Diamond does something about it," Steven said grabbing her hand and bringing Spinel deeper into the temple. "It's fun in here. Make yourself at home. I think you might have to lay low for awhile? But I'll keep you company, we can chat while I'm doing my homework and play when I'm done with it."

"But what about... the rest? I have to hide from them?"

Steven thought first a moment while looking around the temple. "My room! You can stay in there while they are here. Its pretty comfortable in there, lemme show you," Steven walked over the broken warp pad and the door behind it opened, reveling a pretty pink room. It reminded her so much of the garden.

"Hey Steven!" A familiar voice called behind them. The both turned around and watched Connie enter. She closed the door behind her and set her sword down. "Hey Spinel, why are you here?"

Connie was really the only other person who wasn't mean to her. Not as nice as Steven, but welcoming enough.

Steven couldn't think of an excuse so he rushed over to her. "You finished class early? How was it?"

"It was good," Connie blushed. "So far, I am undefeated!"

Steven laughed and kissed her on the lips. Spinel flinched at the sight like it stabbed her in the neck. Steven never talked about him and Connie before. Were they a secret? Were they keeping their love from everyone? Spinel kept a straight face and waited for the love birds to stop talking. Steven returned to Spinel and lead her into the pink room. "Be right back, Connie!"

The door closed behind them and they both looked around at the scene. As beautiful as it was, Spinel couldn't get what just happened off her mind. "You and Connie are dating?"

Steven nodded. "I... I didn't know if you knew what that was. You never seemed interested seeing couples holding hands or anything like that. And since you still seem... hurt... I didn't want you to feel left out or anything."

Spinel smiled. "No. I feel fine. As long as we're friends I'm fine."

Steven smiled back. Suddenly my closed his eyes and a small ice cream cart popped up next to him. "You'll love it here. Anything you can think of will appear!"

Spinel smiled even bigger and a small meadow appeared full of pink, blue, and purple flowers.

"You like flowers?" Steven asked, reaching down and picking the blue one up. "Forget-me-nots?"

Spinel frowned a bit. "How about a waterfall?" She said louder than she meant to, shocking Steven. In a few seconds, in the distance, a long waterfall appeared making a pool at the bottom surrounded with pretty tears and flower... the same blue ones.

"Hey you could totally go swimming! See? This room is fun!" Steven pointed out. "But I can't stay any longer. The gems are sure to be home soon and I don't want them catching on. I'll come check on you again in an hour if I don't have to do anything, okay?"

Spinel nodded, surprised when Steven gave her a tight hug and ran out of the room.
