"What do the Diamonds want?" Spinel asked, following the two Amethyst guards.

"They didn't exactly tell us, they were all crowding around a small figure," the left Amethyst said.

"A small figure?" Spinel asked. What if it was Steven? Steven is small compared to the Diamonds. Why would they crowd around him though? They usually give him some space. Unless they were mad... but they never get mad at Steven. Unless... he's hurt! What if he's hurt and the Diamonds don't know what to do with him? What if he's so badly hurt they can't fix him? Or maybe White is using her terrible powers to control him! Suddenly Spinel began to run. She knew exactly where the Diamonds were, the throne room.

Steven is hurt. Steven is hurt. Steven is hurt.

Spinel ran into the throne room, short of breath. Realizing there was nothing wrong when she scanned their confused facial expressions.

"Spinel? You didn't need to rush," White Diamond said.

"We called you over here for wonderful news!" Blue Diamond said. "Come over here, dear."

Spinel did as she was told. Yellow Diamond was talking softly to a figure on her palm, but it was too high for Spinel to see. Yellow lowered her hands, reveling what she was holding.

"A... Spinel?" Spinel cranked her neck. She always wanted another Spinel playmate, but now that there's one in front of her it feels... off.

"Correct!" Blue Diamond said. "She is just like you! Well... the old you... and blue."

And Blue Diamond was right. It was like as if Spinel was looking in a mirror 6,000 years ago. "Wow... she really does. Where is her gem?"

The smaller Spinel laughed. "On my back!" She turned around, showing her perfect heart shaped gem. "It's soooooo nice to meet you!"

"Haha... nice to meet you too," Spinel said, sticking her hand out for a hand shake. But instead the innocent little gem stretched her arms out and wrapped them around Spinel tightly. "I can't wait to be best frieeeends!"

Spinel pushed herself out of the other Spinel's grip. "Wow she really is like the old me. But doesn't it take awhile to make a Spinel?" She said pointing to her own gem.

Blue Diamond sighed. "Yes it does. I decided to make her hundreds of years ago. I was so lonely without Pink around I just... wanted a playmate."

"But now Blue is happy. So she doesn't need this Spinel anymore. So we were wondering if you wanted her as your own playmate?"

"But what about later on in life? Blue, you're not always going to be happy. Sometimes you're going to feel down and that's why Spinel will be there with you! That's what they're meant for," Spinel said.

Blue Diamond nodded. "You're right. You're absolutely right. Oh I just love how mature you are! I'm so glad you're helping us with Homeworld!" Blue and Yellow smiled at her.

Spinel bowed. "My honor!"

The blue Spinel laughed, clapping her hands.

"I uh... gotta get going. I have some... important Diamonds matter to get to," Spinel mocked, but made the Diamonds laugh.

"HAHAHAHA! It's true! We do sound like that!" Yellow Diamond laughed.

Spinel walked back to the ball room, half expecting Pink Pearl to be there. But she wasn't. It was so odd. Nobody ever wanted to be so close to her besides Steven. All the gems hated her and seemed like they would never forgive her for ruining Earth. But Pink Pearl... it seemed... too good to be true.

"Pearl? Pink Pearl are you still here?" Spinel called as she walked down the hallways.

Soft tapping noises came from behind Spinel. "Yes! I am still here."

Spinel spun around. "Perfect! I wanted to know if you could show me around?"

Pink Pearl smiled. "Of course, Spinel! I would love to show you the garden-"

"NO!"

Pink Pearl flinched.

"I mean... how about somewhere else? I've seen the garden a thousand times," Spinel said. And been there a thousand years. Didn't Pink Pearl know what happened to her? Why would she say something like that?

"Oh- right right. Of course. How about I show you... the secret place?" Pink Pearl asked. "Pink Diamond had a hidden room in the palace and only her Pearl's knew about it. Would you like to see it?"

"A secret room? I've... never heard of it?" Spinel questioned.

"Neither does Steven's friend, Pearl. Only I knew about it. Come now, follow me," Pink Pearl said, walking past her and down the hallway. "We must be careful though, the Diamonds can never know about this room."

"Oh- of course," Spinel said. Suddenly Pink Pearl stopped moving, and she kicked the wall, digging her heel into the wall as hard as she could. The ground shook a bit under Spinel and she jumped out of the way. A trap door under her opened.

"Hurry! It's only open for a few seconds," Pink Pearl jumped inside, and Spinel followed closely behind. The door shut before Spinel landed on the ground.

"Let me turn the light on for you," Pink Pearl said. In the distance there was a small click and bright blue, yellow, and white light lit the entire room. Spinel looked around in awe, in was much better than the ball room.

"Pink... Pearl... what is this..." Spinel asked.

"I want you to see," Pink Pearl said, the tone in her voice broken. "I want you to see what a fucking monster she was!" Suddenly Pink Pearl went from calm to mad. "I WANT YOU TO UNDERSTAND SUCH A MONSTER SHOULDN'T HAVE BROKEN YOU! SUCH AN EVIL GEM MADE YOU LOOK LIKE THAT!" Pink Pearl pointed at Spinel. "You're gem... your eyes... you'll never be the same for a gem that should have ever existed..."

"Pearl... please calm down. I don't like Pink Diamond either. I know I shouldn't let these things bother me but it does. I think this will take awhile to fix and I know someday it will..." Spinel stopped short when she saw tears spilling out of Pink Pearl's eyes. "P-Pearl..."

"You don't know what she did... you think you're past was awful!" She covered her mouth with her hands. "I didn't want to say anything. I didn't want to tell you I had a worst past. But just because my past was bad doesn't mean yours isn't either..."

Spinel looked around the room. All she saw were two giant machines, one blue and the other yellow. What exactly were they? Spinel never saw anything like it.

"You believed me?" Pink Pearl said, her voice horribly cracking from crying so hard. "You believed White actually controlled me?"

"I did. Isn't that what happened?"

"N-no..." Pink Pearl wrapped her arms around her body. "Not exactly. Let me just explain everything to you, but can you keep this a secret? Please? Only White and I know what a terrible gem Pink Diamond really was! I can't hold this secret any longer! You should know how bad Pink Diamond really was! Because she hurt you so bad..."

"I'll- I'll keep it a secret! I won't tell anybody!" Spinel promised. "I know Pink Diamond was a bad gem!"

"Oh no. You only saw her bad side. Not her physoctic side."
