"No Shiza, we can't do that!" I bellow getting out of my chair. "This will not end well!"
"Oh come on Romaisa, a little prank call won't hurt. Plus then you'll know if he's playful and nice or not."
I sigh rubbing my head, this girl was crazy. She wanted to call Osama and say things about how she was a worker in a vacuum shop and demand him to buy vacuums.
"Ok fine do it." I say while siting back down. She squeals and takes my phone, looking for his number. My father added it into my cell for 'emergencies'. They're acting as were already married. Even though my mom did warn me not to call him at all. She noted the number down and started tapping it into her home phone.
She dialled it and put it on speaker she giggled and we both waited for him to pick it up.
"Hello?" A gruff voice said from the end of the line. Shiza raised her eyebrows up and down before clearing her throat.
"Hello, sir this is Lauren from Vaccuums at Your Best. I think you need a vacuum. To win a vacuum and an unlimited supply of peanuts please state your first name and answer the following three questions."
We heard a sigh and some shuffling from the other end. "My name is Osama but I really don't talk to woman. Religious beliefs." Shiza turned to me with raised eyebrows and I shrugged in return. Wow well that's good to hear.
"Well sir, I'm already married and have seven kids so I think you're okay for now." I rolled my eyes as she grinned at me.
"Very well. What are the questions, I actually do need a vacuum."
"Okay first question, "what do you think of the colour red as a vacuum?"
"That's a stupid question, who makes them up? Red is blood. Blood is not good." Comes his reply.
Well then. That was a strange reply.
"Second question, are you married? Or looking to marry?" My eyes widened and I made motions for her to stop but she just held a hand out to me. I slapped it with as much force I could muster and she winced glaring at me.
"Hmm that was a weird change of topic. I wonder...why does a vacuum company care if I'm getting married or not?" He says with the same gruffness.
Shizas eyes widens, "well sir they're not my questions so I wouldn't know."
"Oh I know why, because your a prank caller who's just bored out of her mind even though she has seven kids. Don't call this number again!" He says yelling a bit. Shiza holds the phone a but away from her as the familiar beeping tone comes on.
"Well then. He's a weirdo. Very bipolar." Shiza says as she slowly puts the phone down.
I nod slowly trying to gather his characteristics. He didn't seem bad until the end. Maybe it was because he was busy and in a hurry. Or mayb--
"Ok Romaisa, think very deeply about this okay. Think of other options." She says putting emphasis on 'other options'.
I scrunch my eyebrows confused, "what other options Shiza? This dude makes my dad really happy. He's a business partner of his and I don't know about my mom. I could say yes and make the nikkah (engagement) in like three months or something."
She sighs and says, "just think Romaisa, think, I'm not going to force this decision on you. All I'm asking you to do it think."
