The wedding hall is the pic
oh and the majority of you guys wanted longer chapters so yay? I'll try to make them the greatest but I'm sorry in advance if I disappoint you. I have school and ugh I hate it. Ok enough of me talking go read!
As we enter the hall, me and Shiza up front while Asher stays a bit to the back, I nearly gasp at the beauty of it. It's a huge hall with a thin red carpet leading right to the sofa where the bride and groom sit, even though it's not separated, it does seem like it. There are tables way at the right side then way at the opposite side there are other tables, separating them are sofas and the carpet. One word though...golden. Everything is shiny and golden and beautiful.
My eyes grow wide with excitement as I look at the corner and notice a huge banghra group, all men, but still fun, dressed in traditional bright clothing.
"How about you go and meet Shanzay's brother, he's your cousin but since we have like a billion I don't think you've met him before. His names Hamza." Shiza says to Asher as he plays with his tie. I can't help but smile a little at the cuteness. Asher looks up and meets my eye but I quickly look down. He clears his throat and says, "uh sure yeah I'll go do that...have fun!" Shiza waves him off as I play with the bracelet on my hand. Stupid bracelet is getting tangled. Like you seriously have one job to do darn bracelet, just one job.
"Hey come on loser let's go help with Shanzay."
"Who you calling loser, you numbsickle," is my famous, amazing reply. We continue walking towards the woman side. There is a room up the stairs where the bride has some space to get ready, in this case Shanzay.
No one pays us any attention except for Shizas grandma who waddles towards us and gives us the biggest cheek pinchers. She pinches my cheeks so hard I feel like they'll be red for a week.
I laugh as Shiza rubs her cheeks and grumbles about how hard those fingers were.
We go up to Shanzay and mashallah, she looks amazing. The husband to be is one lucky man!
"Asalam Alaikum darlings! I'm so glad you could make it! Oh Romaisa I missed you so much," she gets up in her big dress and hugs me tightly, I hug her back while saying my salaam and she sits back down at her vanity.
"Walaikuaslam Shanzay! Are you excited? I heard your soon to be hubby is ugly," Shiza says with a grin. I laugh silently as Shanzay gasps and hits Shiza on the elbow.
"You're just jealous, he's gorgeous okay?"
Shiza nods and laughs. I look over Shanzay's dress that's she's wearing, it's a golden with a bit of beige highlight, it's skirts are really big but beautiful, laced with beads of gold and peach, the bodice is amazingly done and just fits in the right places. Her hijab is plain but it is done in a style and has beads to the end. Her make up to the best and her shoes the greatest, this will surely be a wedding to remember.
"Ok come on girls! Let's go, it's time show!" Shizas grandma yells as the girls quiet down, one of Shizas cousin says, "do you mean 'show time'?"
"no I mean time show! Do not correct my English, or me correct your face!" Everyone laughs and we all head out as Shanzay's helpers stay with her as she will be coming out in a while.
Shiza and I find a place close to the stage but not that close, some of Shizas other cousins come and join us, we say salaam and smile at each other. I don't think they know me, oh well. There are three of them, one in a purple dress, another in a yellow, and the third in grey. I highly suspect they're triplets but I guess not.
Suddenly the yellow one gasps, and me and Shiza turn to her.
"What is it?" Shiza asks, the yellow one points to my foot the one that's unique and says, "it's plastic! How the heck??"
I smile kindly at her, I usually get this a lot, "it's called a prosthetic leg, which means this is my replacement leg. My supposed to be leg is chilling with the other peoples legs up there." I say making a joke out of it. Other people may have gotten mad but I tend to see the glass being half full.
They all laugh and the yellow one says, "that's funny, sorry if it sounded rude.. Didn't mean it. I was curious and I tend to speak my mind."
"No worries," I smile and we turn our heads towards the end of the carpet where the groom is walking up as the music starts. He looks really happy and mashallah he's not bad looking. Loose the moustache though dude, seriously not a good look.
The men side start whistling and cheering as the music gets louder. The groom finally reaches the sofa and sits down with a huge smile upon his face, awaiting the arrival of his wife. After about a minute or so, more feminine music starts and Shanzay appears with a smile larger than Cuba. She looks beautiful from here and looking at the grooms face, he thinks so too. She starts walking down the carpet as we clap her on. When she reaches the sofa, the groom (I have yet to learn his name) stands up and smiles really wide, he whispers something to her which causes her to blush and they both sit down. They look so happy together, mashallah.
Soon the Bhangra starts forming infront of the stage and bring random people up, some teenage boys start hopping around not knowing what to do but still enjoying themselves. Among the men I find Asher looking confused as ever as I'm guessing Hamza teaches him footsteps. I laugh inwardly.
The wedding is on a role, with loud music and talks. The bride and groom look like their having the time of their lives and the rest of us the same.
It was all fun and games now but what I didn't know was that when I got home I'd have the biggest surprise waiting for me. Maybe for the good or maybe for the bad.
