"Hey Romaisa dear, could you come down we have to tell you something." My mother calls up.
"Sure mama, be there in a minute." I yell back, I place the the dress back into the mannequin, and add a few pins to keep my stitches in place. Smiling at the black and cream dress that I'm working on, I place a large cloth over it, covering every little detail.
Closing the door behind me, I head down the stairs. Going towards the living room, I find my baba and mama sitting there with smiles on their faces as Zacky plays with his trucks in the corner.
"Yes?" I ask sitting across from the both of them. Baba looks at mama and nods, "you have another man asking for you hand." She says with a smile. I sigh, my face morphing into a frown.
"Mama I thought I told you to keep it low for a while." I say to her in a whiney tone, I should try to be mature about this but it's getting really hard.
"Yes we know but I'm positive you'll say yes to this man." She says, I sigh again and run a hand across my forehead. "Does he know about my leg?" I ask still holding my face in the palm of my hand.
"Yes." She says and I look up, "that's good." I say turning my head towards Zacky. I want to go back to that age, when all you cared about was if your car was missing a tire or if your doll house had a broken sofa. Those were the easy, fun days. Growing up ruins everything. It lays responsibilities on your shoulders, one responsibility done. Another one comes along.
"I don't know mama." I say shrugging and fiddling with my fingers.
"Romaisa, I know I made a mistake with Osama, but I'm 100 percent positive that you'll say yes to this man." Baba says giving me a genuine smile.
I nod managing a time smile to appear in my face, "okay baba. So when are they coming?"
"In about two hours. He met with baba yesterday, and since your baba has work on the weekend, we decided today would be okay."
"Okay, I'll start getting ready later." I say standing up. Before I can leave though my mother grabs my hand and places a kiss on it, "we're so proud of you Romaisa, never forget that."
I nod smiling, kissing them both on the foreheads, Zacky jumps onto my back and I give him a piggy ride up the stairs. Going slowly as to not fall.
"Ok big guy, wanna help me choose my clothes for this mystery man?" I say tickling Zackys little stomach. He giggles and says, "yesh! No more tickling Romey!" I laugh a a he squirms away.
He goes to my closet as I sit down onto my bed. Zacky can make any day better. He places a hand on his hip and the other on his chin. I chuckle to myself as he goes through my clothes. Believe it or not but Zacky has helped me with my clothes many times. He's practically an expert.
"Close your eyes Romey." He says giving me a tiny smile. I grin back and cover my face with my hands.
I hear some shuffling, and then "ok open." I open my eyes to find Zacky standing beside an outfit laid onto the bed. It's a pitch black skirt with a peach blouse, he also added a scarf that's peach and black and a necklace. I pick him up hugging him hard.
"Thank you Zacky! You're the best!" I says kissing his forehead. He squirms in my arms before finally kissing my cheek. "You're welcome Romey.....Romey?" I place him onto my lap and look down saying, "yes?"
"Mommy said you are getting married. Is that true?" He says with his bottom lip quivering a bit. I sigh hugging him closer to me. "I may be Zacky, but remember what if the guy turns it to be a turd."
He giggles a bit, "hehe turd. But Romey don't leave me like Aiman alright?" He says. I hug him again and say, "I can't promise that Zacky. But I'll always be here for you."
