Chapter 21 - Round Two

ELLA'S POV

"I'm not afraid of a couple hundred rogues. Your armies are at least 100 times that." I rolled my eyes.

"My armies don't use dark magic." he glared. I couldn't help but get a guilty look on my face. Maybe I should have just sent Syd to trial.

But honestly? I was happy now. I completed the last thing on my bucket list when I got rid of him, and I didn't regret it.

I would do it over and over again just for the satisfaction. My life was better now. And I knew a big part of that was because I got closure.

"I'm sorry Nick. I am, but the damage is done." I shrugged. He raised an eyebrow and then calmed down after thinking about my words.

He knew I was right.

"There have been threats." he said sternly all of a sudden.

"And I don't like that you put yourself in danger because I'm the one who has to protect you now!" he yelled.

"I think we've established I can protect myself?" I chuckled. Nick rolled his eyes and gave a slight nod.

"I don't know if they'll act on anything. I'm just saying the next couple months we need to be extra careful." he said.

"Why don't we just stay in a nice secluded hotel room for the next couple months? We'll go off the grid, and we can pass the time by...." I gestured. Nick couldn't help but smirk at my comment.

"Just tell me you'll be extra careful. Don't get lost alone somewhere or drink anything mysterious." Nick pleaded with me.

"I'll be careful." I said, and he sighed in relief.
