ELLA'S POV

I felt my heart pounding in my chest as I sat across from Nick, wearing a sharp suit in the limousine. It scared me how attracted I was to him.

The anticipation was killing me, I wanted to ask him my questions and figure everything out.

Finally we got to the restaurant, and the hostess showed us to a nice table in a secluded area near the back of the restaurant. Nick ordered us both wine, and it was heaven. I hadn't had anything but warm water in so long and I missed having something to enjoy.

This wine tasted good, too, and I couldn't help but wonder how expensive it was. Looking around, it was a really nice restaurant, and the menu didn't even show prices. So yeah, that expensive.

"I've got a lot of questions for you." he said in his low voice, taking a sip of his wine.

"So do I," I replied nervously, wondering what he was planning on asking me.

"Good, we'll take turns. Go ahead, little mate." he said huskily, and I felt myself quiver when he called me me that.

"Well, I mean—" I felt myself struggle for words. "You're, erm, a very busy guy." I blurted.

"That's not a question." he raised an eyebrow and smirked, and I felt my cheeks turn red.

"I mean, tell me about um, being an Alpha." I tried to rephrase.

"Well," he smirked, "It's a lot of hard work and responsibility. There's pressure to keep the entire pack safe. But if you're worried about me being busy, don't. I'll be making plenty of time for you, little one."

I felt my lips curl into a small smile. He was so charming and comforting and I didn't even know him.

"My turn. Why were you running through the woods?" he raised an eyebrow as he asked sternly.

My heart sank. I was hoping he wouldn't ask, but then again, how could he not. I wasn't ready to talk about it, but I knew I owed him an explanation. He was the one who brought me to safety, after all.

"Well... When you found me I don't know how long I'd been running. But I just escaped a group of rogues that had been holding me captive." I looked down and sipped my wine quickly.

When I looked back up Nick's eyebrows were narrowed. "Held captive?" he asked lowly, the anger in his voice apparent.

"Erm, yes. I don't really want to go into detail, but... I was at a bar one night and they lured me to this car and I just... Next thing I knew I was chained up in a cellar for three months." I said quietly.

Nicks eyes turned from furious to sympathetic. He reached over the table and put his large hand over mine, and it was comforting.

"I'm sorry that you had to go through that, Ella." he said sincerely.

"But you need to tell me more so my pack can find them and kill them." he said sternly.

"All I know is they were hidden out in an underground lair in the woods the opposite direction of wherever I was running. Their leader's name is Syd, and there were probably 9 or 10 of them that I know of." I explained.

I wished I could tell him more, but now that I was away from it I didn't want to think about it anymore. I didn't want to dwell on the past when I was just given such a good present.

"You can tell me more later when you're ready," Nick said. "It's your turn."

I thought about my question.

"So, we are mates?" I said softly, and a smile grew on his lips.

"Yes, little one. You are mine and I am yours. I'll explain more to you about the mating process when we get there. Do you feel the bond?" he asked me.

"Yes. It's like there's something internal tying me to you," I trailed off.

"I want you to move into my room. I want to feel your body and give you pleasure. But I'll wait until you're ready." he said deeply. My heart skipped a beat. I wanted to sleep in his bed with him, to be close to him and inhale his warm scent next to me. But I had to get over the nightmares first.

"Thank you, Nick. For everything." I gave him a warm smile and pushed my hair behind my ear.

"For bringing me to safety, for being so nice to me, and for not pushing me into anything." I said.

He smiled back.

"Of course, little mate. And when you're ready for me you just let me know. Until then, I hope you know that as an Alpha, I'm very possessive. I intend to keep you close to me when I'm with you and you're expected to do as I say." he responded.

I nodded and felt myself shudder. I didn't mind doing what he said, I had an unexplained deep trust for him. Even though I was a little on edge with him touching me, I was willing to give it a try.

"You have no idea how hard it is to restrain myself from taking you into my arms when I'm around you." he growled. I felt myself blush but God, he was so sexy.

The rest of dinner went smooth. It wasn't awkward or uncomfortable, he actually made me laugh a lot. He told me how beautiful I looked and how long he had waited to find his mate, and I told him about my childhood, my hobbies, and all of that stuff.

When we got back out to the limo, I sat closer to him than before, and allowed his hand to rest on my thigh. Even the slightest touch from him felt so good.

He was relaxing to be around and he made me feel secure. His cologne smelled heavenly, and eventually I let his hand move from my thigh around my waist, pulling me closer to him.

When we got back to the floor our rooms were on I realized I didn't have any pajamas, so he told me to come to his room with him and he'd get me a t-shirt.

It was huge, even nicer than my room, which I didn't think was possible. It had nice couches and a beautiful walk in closet and a very large bed. Nick must have seen me ogling, because he chuckled before handing me the shirt.

"T-Thanks," I blushed.

"This will be your room soon, little one," he said, inching closer to me slowly, until our faces were inches apart. "And we'll sleep in that bed together." he whispered sensually against my cheek, and I felt shivers go down my spine.

He tilted my chin and gave me a kiss on the cheek before saying goodnight, and I practically sprinted back to my room.

The sparks I felt were undeniable, the way he talked to me was so sexy, and his kiss, even though it was just on the cheek, felt like something I'd waited years for.

How did I go from being held captive and forced to fight for my life yesterday to having a beautiful room and a beautiful mate who would do anything to protect me?

As I drifted off to sleep, soft sheets against my skin, I finally felt safe.
