ELLA'S POV

I was definitely nervous to say the least about going to lunch with Nick. He had a more serious look in his eye when he told me, and I knew he was going to push me to answer his questions. I couldn't, I wasn't ready.

As much as I trusted him I didn't want to talk about what I did. I had known him for days and even if it felt like weeks I had to face the fact that I was sharing a bed with a stranger.

And not just a stranger, an unfamiliar Alpha werewolf.

When we got the restaurant I was surprised at how casual and secluded it was. It was very different from an expensive fancy steakhouse that I would've expected.

We were sat down at a table towards the corner, and there were only a couple of other guests.

I looked at the menu and saw a variety of mom's-homemade-classics, and I was excited thinking about all of the comfort food. I ended up ordering a turkey sandwich with a side of soup.

"So," Nick started when our waiter walked off. I felt my heart sink, now came the talking part.

"I hope you know that I care about you a lot, Ella. Even if it's been a couple of days, you are my mate, and I have that special bond with you. I would love if you could tell me a little about your background so we could get closer." he said lowly.

I gulped my water. I didn't really know what to say.

"What do you want to know?" I sighed.

"I think you can guess." he breathed out in his sexy deep voice.

After a moment of sitting in silence and me looking off the other direction to try to deflect, he opened his mouth again.

"How were you taken hostage?" he growled, the thought seeming to upset him.

"Well..." I brushed off my lap and took a deep breath.

"I was walking home from my internship one night back in California when I decided to stop at a bar and get a drink, and somewhere along the way I guess I was knocked out. The next thing I new I woke up in an underground cellar in handcuffs." I said.

It was really quite a simple story since I couldn't remember a majority of the details due to being unconscious.

Nick's eyes narrowed and he nodded slowly, pursing his lips as he thought.

"And?" he said softly.

"And, after a couple of months of being malnourished and tied up, I found an escape and ran into you in the woods." I shrugged.

Please don't ask any more.

He nodded a bit more and I saw his eyes trail off with his train of thought as he looked towards the window.

I began to think of everything else that happened in those months that I didn't tell him.

"Surely you weren't just held captive for months with no purpose?" Nick said suddenly.

"No." I felt the lump from in my throat.

"I wasn't." I said quickly looking away and blinking to make sure I didn't cry.
