Chapter 26 - Half-Blood

The next day, I texted Evanora about ten minutes after I first woke up.

Can you come today?

Then I put my phone on the nightstand and got up, seeing that Nick was in the closet changing.

I grabbed a blue mini-dress off the hanger and changed into it, brushing my wavy hair over my shoulders and topping it off with the slightest bit of makeup.

Now I was ready to learn some dark magic.

Hopefully.

My phone chimed and I checked to see a message from Evanora.

Send your coordinates, I'll be there in an hour.

Coordinates? Like I know where I am right now.

"Nick!" I yelled, walking from the bathroom to the closet to find him in a pair of jeans, picking out a shirt.

"Evanora needs our coordinates?" I said timidly.

"40.30388, 6.72506, got that?" he asked.

"Um, sure." I chuckled, typing the numbers into my phone.

"You know that off the top of your head?" I asked, walking up closer to him as he nodded.

I wrapped my arms around his neck and nuzzled my face into his chest, his scent nearly getting me high. He smelled so good.

"You're so smart." I said lovingly, looking up at him as his hands rested on the small of my back. He kissed my forehead gently, before pulling the shirt over his head.

His hand moved under the fabric of my dress to squeeze my ass, and took a deep breath to inhale my scent.

He held me closer against him when I tried to pull away, clearly not done. I basked in the warmth of his touch and affection, craving it even more. His sexy eyes gazed down at me, filled with lust.

"Hey, is Sloane okay?" I asked, suddenly remembering his sister lived in the back house where our wing was attacked.

"She's alright, she's been hiding out in another pack with her childhood friend. A couple of pack members suffered minor injuries, but nobody died because of their attack." he nodded.

"Good. I'm gonna get something to eat," I mumbled, turning to the door.

"I'll make you breakfast." he said, stopping me.

"But first," he whispered, leaning my head closer against his chest.

"I want to taste you." he murmured, hand snaking down to grope my ass.

After a little fooling around, he followed through and made me some pretty damn good bacon.

When we finished, it was almost time for Evanora to arrive. Right on cue the doorbell rang, and I let Nick open it.

Her long platinum blond hair was sleeked behind her back, and she wore a flowy black dress.

Her lips were dark crimson today, and she looked unenthusiastic as ever.

"Where are we doing it?" she spat.

"We were thinking just over in the clear patch of the woods." I pointed over her shoulder past a large clump of pine trees. She nodded and motioned for me to follow her.

"Good luck, if you need anything let me know." Nick rubbed my shoulder and smiled. I was surprised he was being so cool about it. I thought for sure he'd be trying to find a way to listen in on what Evanora would be teaching me.

But, maybe I underestimated him.

When we got to the clear spot, only one small tree trunk sat in the middle of the circular piece of land. Evanora set down a black duffel bag that I hadn't noticed she'd brought until now.

"Okay, before we get started I have to go over the rules." she sighed.

"Rules?" I asked.

"Yep. I'm teaching you dark magic, you didn't think this was gonna just be free range, did you?" she raised an eyebrow.

I shook my head.

"Okay. First of all, you are strictly forbidden from speaking of what I'm going to show you with anyone who doesn't already possess knowledge of dark magic. That means your little boyfriend." she gestured towards the house.

"If you share any of the information I give you I will find out, and it won't be pretty." she glared at me. Clearly she thought I wouldn't be able to handle this rule.

"Second, it's not a party trick. This shit will get you killed, so take it seriously." she shrugged, and I nodded. Obviously.

"Finally, and I can't stress this one enough, do not use anything you learn here for unethical or personal gain." she raised her eyebrows.

"Got it." I kept my face stone cold like hers usually was. She rolled her eyes at me slightly before pulling something out of the bag.

A vile of dark purple liquid.

"This is wizard blood. Once you do this there's no going back. Please tell me you'll be responsible." she sighed.

"I will, Evanora. I only want to know how to defeat Syd's rogues, then I'll never even touch magic again." I promised. She nodded like my answer was just good enough.

"Alright." she popped the cork off the little vile of blood.

"So, do I- do I drink it?" I asked, trying not to look repulsed. She met my eyes and smirked devilishly.

"Not exactly." she pulled something else out of her bag, upon closer inspection, a small scalpel.

"It won't work unless it enters your bloodstream and mixes with your human blood." she shrugged, grinning.

Was she getting joy out of telling me I'd have to be cut open?

She had me sit on the tree trunk in the middle and close my eyes. But I couldn't just close my eyes, I wanted to see exactly what she was doing to me.

She made a small incision above my left elbow, and I winced as it stung. Then she poured the vile over it and I was amazed as my cut absorbed all of the blood, not a drop falling to the ground even though she had poured it carelessly.

"Wow..." I watched as the wound closed and healed itself.

"Congratulations." Evanora looked at me and raised her eyebrows.

"You're now a half-blood wizard."
