I'm so happy! I managed to write it down this morning, though it didn't turn out as I wanted, I think it's a satisfying end. So here you go!
Surbhi's Point of view, Six months later.
Things had changed for the best, in these six amazing months. My due date was nearing and I had to admit that I was quite scared. I hadn't really thought about giving birth until I had gone to my last check-up a few days earlier. I had aced my final exams, and though I had lost the opportunity to work as a lawyer right after my graduation, my marital life had become a bliss. I was literally in heaven. Though the beginning was hard and full of obstacles. The first one had been, obviously, my own hubby. In fact, he had felt extremely ashamed to not have a job when we had announced my pregnancy to our friends four months ago. Even though Afreen Khan had talked about him with her friends, none of them had been ready to hire someone who was part of such a scandal which resulted in him to be jobless. I remembered that time when I came home after an afternoon spent with my parents. It was during my fifth month of pregnancy. They had given me a good amount of money because they wanted to help. Even though I didn't want to take the money they hadn't let me go out of the house without taking it.
"What is it?" Nakuul had asked, with rage clearly audible.
"Mom and dad had given me money...to buy..."
"Give it back to them." He had simply said.
"We can't Nakuul. They won't take it back."
"I don't want to be begging for money. Give the money back to them." I was irked with his attitude. And enough was enough.
"Listen I understand your point of view, I understand how you feel. But you have to accept that things are not good Nakuul. We need this money. You can repay them back if that matters to you that much but I won't give the money back to them. I have a treatment to follow now and I don't want us to be penniless because of my medicine." I had rubbed his arm softly. I had had anemia because of my pregnancy and I had needed vitamin supplements. Nakuul had rubbed his forehead and had collapsed on the couch.
"I don't want to appear as a failure." He had sobbed.
"But you're not. Things like that happen. You're not the first one in the world being jobless and you won't be the last one either, you only have to accept a hand when it reaches out to you." I had kissed his forehead and I had hugged him.
A few days later, our prayers had been answered. Avinash had got a contract to be the director of a TV series and had advised the producer to let Nakuul audition for the main role. Thankfully that contract had marked his beginnings as a lead actor. Three months later, he was still the lead actor and I was currently waiting for him in his changing room. He wouldn't let go of me since I had started my ninth month for it was only a question of days before I was to give birth. As I was toying with a photograph of us which was standing on a table, I heard the door open.
"How is the lady of my life?"
"What are you doing here Avi? And where is Nakuul? Did he finish already?" I asked. Avinash kissed my forehead and smiled.
"I wanted to see my super mama bestie!" He said and pulled my cheeks. "Regarding your hubby, he's almost over with the shooting. He will come in a few minutes." As soon as he finished his sentence, my husband appeared at the threshold of the door.
"How are you, babe?" He asked, helped me up before kissing my cheek.
"I'm feeling like a whale!" I whined and he pecked the side of my head.
"Come on let's go have lunch!" He did a fist bump with Avi and the three of us walked to the car. Avinash drove to the restaurant where we met with Neha, Bhavya, and Shrenu to have lunch. I was famished, but I was also feeling uncomfortable. There was some kind of pressure on my belly as if the baby was pushing against my organs.
"You really have to give birth now! I'm so excited about that and I will have your boy as the best man for my wedding!" Avinash said happily.
"Who said that the baby will be a boy? The baby will be a girl!" Bhavya said.
"Yup our cute little princess!" Neha teamed up with Bhavya. Nakuul and I had decided against knowing the sex of the baby, we wanted to be surprised. I held my belly as I was feeling more uncomfortable.
"No! I agree with Avi, it will be a boy!" Shrenu said and I opened my eyes like saucers.
"The baby is coming!" I cried in pain as my water broke.
"Sur', are you serious?" Nakuul asked holding my palm. I gripped his shirt, not caring about pulling his hairs underneath.
"Do it look like a joke to you?! I'm about to give birth, Goddammit!" I shouted.
End of Surbhi's POV
As soon as he heard her, Nakuul helped her up and the team drove to the hospital. The ride wasn't really pleasant, the quality of the road and Nakuul harsh driving made it appear like they were on a roller coaster.
"I swear to God you won't touch me without condoms anymore!" Surbhi cried in pain as she was taken to a room for her delivery. While Nakuul was suffering from his wife's firm grip on his hand, Avinash and the girls decided to call the future grandparents.

"Tell them I want the epidural, please, it hurts so much, I won't be able to do this." She cried.
"I'm sorry Mrs. Mehta, it will be too dangerous, we can't do it anymore, you will have to do it naturally.
"No! I won't... I can't..." She mumbled and Nakuul caressed her cheek.
"Calm down Surbhi, you're the strongest person I've ever met! You'll do this because you're a warrior, and then we will meet our angel and you won't feel the pain anymore. The pain will still be here, but the love will be stronger." Nakuul said, rubbing her palm.
"I love you Nakuul... I'm sorry for every insult I've told you in the past few hours." She inhaled deeply then pushed with all her might. After a few more minutes, she rested her head on the pillow and a cry resonated in the room.
"And it's a girl!" The doctor revealed while handing the baby to the new parents.
"She's perfect!" Surbhi said while smiling. She didn't even feel the pain as she held her baby in her arms.
~.~
"Team Noxie won!" Nakuul exclaimed as he left the delivery room with the baby girl in his arms. Everyone gathered around him to look at the baby. A baby girl, who was born to complete her parents' love.
A few hours later, family and friends were able to meet the new mother who still couldn't believe that she had given birth.
"You betrayed me Surbhi! I thought I would have a champ, but here I am with a princess!" Avinash fake cried and Surbhi just rolled her eyes.
"Leave my daughter alone, will you?! You can have your own champ!" She said and pulled her tongue at him.
"Talking about that, now that you have given birth and all... I wanted to tell you something. Rahul and I are not only getting married. We're also having a baby. We are adopting a baby boy and I would be very pleased if you and Nakuul become his godparents." Avinash said and Surbhi put a hand over her mouth, she had tears rolling down her cheeks.
"I'm so happy for you Avi! Of course, we will be glad to be his godparents!" She said softly.
"All of this is a time for celebration, but you haven't told us yet what name you have chosen for your girl!" Shashi said excitedly.
"The name was Surbhi's idea." Nakuul said.
"So the baby's name is Aayat. Aayat, Hope Mehta. The main character of another book of our life."
And it's a cut! Thank you for being part of this journey! I would be delighted to have you along for my next journey entitled Her nanny's son! As I'm very busy for the moment, my inkitt debut with the book of OS will have to wait some more, but I will let you know when I will update it again :)
