After The Lie ✔️

Chap#47

Elaine's POV;

As I slowly start to regain conscious, I notice that there's a duct tape over my mouth and I can't see because there is a cloth covering my eyes and I feel my hands tied behind me as I'm sitting on a chair.
Although I could hear some talking.

"Let her go." I hear someone say. It that Atlas? How.....what's going on?

"I'm glad you're here. As you can see she is just fine." This time I was pretty sure it was Stephen who replied

"What do you want? I will give you these files back and I'll even stop coming after you. Just let her go." Atlas said

"Great. You've always been pretty smart." Stephen said as I hear some footsteps and then I feel someone touching the back of my head, I flinch at this until someone removes the cloth from my eyes. He also lets my hand free. I get up suddenly and I see Atlas standing in front while Stephen is standing at my right. And on my left is Dylan. There are also two other guys.

"But..." Stephen suddenly said as Dylan puts a gun over my head, "I don't really want that all. I want you to hand me over all your shares and basically just hand the company over to me."

What? He's gotta be kidding! Atlas shouldn't do as he says. I wanted to tell Atlas not to do as Stephen says but it was useless, no matter how much I hummed or tried to speak because there was still a duct tape over my mouth.

"Okay. But don't you dare hurt her." Atlas said. Gosh is he stupid? I tried to shake my head to make him take back his decision but he didn't notice. Why? It's his business! It's his company! The one he and his father worked hard for! How can he just let it go so easily?

"Sure. I'll let her go right after you sign these." Stephen said as he is holding a file. I don't know what got over me, but I elbowed Dylan, kicked him and then snatch the files from Stephen and I ran towards Atlas. One of the two guys was about to attack me, but Atlas punched him. And at that moment, I realised they were pointing their guns at me. Oh, I didn't think of this part. But then I hear some police sirens and I look at Atlas who looked like he knew the police was going to come.

"You idiot! You called the police?" Stephen said

I was standing behind Atlas when suddenly I feel someone behind me. Before I could turn, someone hits me on the back of my head and I start to feel dizzy and I again end up unconscious.

The next morning-

It was all black. I slightly opened my eyes and I could see the light of my room. I was in a bed. What happened? My head kind of aches. I blinked my eyes a couple of times before I was really awake. I sat up and looked around and I was in my room. Just then the door opened and in came Atlas.

"Oh thank god, you're awake." He said as I notice his left hand was all bandaged up. I pointed towards it and asked, "How? Are you okay?"

"Yeah it's nothing. I'm fine." He replied

"What happened?" I asked as he hands me glass of water and sits in front of me. He then tells me all about how the police caught Stephen and his men and how he has now filed a case against Stephen thanks to the evidence. He also told me how they had recorded Stephen's confession about killing his dad, which is now helping them in their case.
