Alex hated road trips, she always had (not that she had taken many for that matter), but the fact that Klaus and Elijah were trapped in the trunk of the car brought a smile to her face every single time she thought about it.

She felt tempted to remove her spell and listen to their complaints after a few hours of peaceful driving, but she had another task to take care of.

"Caroline." She called the blonde's attention, and the headmistress immediately turned her stare towards the young witch.

They had been casually talking for the most part of the drive, or more like...Alex had been answering Caroline's endless stream of questions. But by the tone the brunette used, the older vampire knew a serious topic was about to be brought up.

"Yes?"

"We're going to need Bonnie's help."

"I'm sorry, what?"

"In order to figure out how to solve the twin's not so little problem."

"I..." Caroline sighed. "I can't do that to Bonnie...Not after Enzo."

Alex frowned, remembering the story about the death of that particular vampire, and how hurt the Bennett witch was at the time. She also remembered what was at stake and couldn't help but be amazed at the headmistress' quick answer.

"I know it's a lot to ask Care...But these are your daughters." She reminded her kindly.

"I know that. But that's precisely the one argument that put me and my friends, as well as your family in danger so many times. Bonnie has suffered enough. I can't ask that of her."

"Because you know she wouldn't help you?" Alex ventured.

"No...Because I know she would."

Alex sighed. "All I ask...Is that you think about it."

It was silent for a few moments before the blonde spoke up again.

"Wait, why does the GPS say that we'll get there in 16 hours? We've been driving for like a billion hours already! I thought this place was just on the outskirts of New Orleans?"

It had taken her longer than Alexandra thought it would to realize that they weren't going to the place Marcel had suggested. Her mind was probably otherwise occupied.

"Portland." Alex said. "Knowing the two gentlemen we have in the trunk, they wouldn't have been able to stay still and keep their distance if we stayed in New Orleans. I had to get them away."

"Then why ask Marcel to get you a place?" Caroline asked confused.

"You see...In this game, I'm not sure who to trust just yet."

"Wait, what? You don't trust Marcel?"

"From the stories that my mother used to tell me, everyone betrays everyone in that city. Marcel is no exception."

"It sounds to me than more than not trusting him ...You really don't like him."

"Don't mind me. It's just childish jealousy." Alex dismissed the thought.

"Jealousy? Why?" Caroline couldn't help herself but ask.

"I don't know if you remember...But my mom kept me hidden from the world for a long time. The only ones that knew about me were Hayley, you and...my dad." Alex said and Caroline couldn't believe she had put that part of the girl's story in the back of her mind. She looked away from the brunette.

Rebekah could be just as paranoid as Klaus, much more when it came to her daughter. She was shocked when the Mikaelson sister invited her out of all people to meet her very own miracle baby, but once she laid eyes on the baby girl Rebekah was holding all those years ago, she immediately understood the reason why.

"It was bad enough that I had to share my mother's time and attention with a family she didn't allow me to meet...And then Marcel came into the picture."

"Alex...You know that your mother's love for you is different than her love for..."

"I know. That's why I told you, it's just childish jealousy." Alex smiled sadly, knowing that her feelings were irrational, but not being able to help herself from feeling them.

"Is that the main reason why you don't trust him?"

"No. I had Julian check out the place Marcel had picked out for us, and not too far from there, he ran into a group of vampires who had been given the order to comb the area because they heard a report of Klaus and Elijah still being around."

"The...The order? As in...Someone told them to verify they were dead?"

"Yes. It's normal really, everyone is paranoid. This is how it starts. They want to make sure those two are truly out of the way before they try anything. The only thing I'm curious about is why they were asked to specifically comb that area."

"You're curious? Or suspicious?"

"Call it a hunch." Alex smiled.

"You are a Mikaelson through and through." Caroline shook her head with a small smile, and then they felt a thud come from the back.

Caroline was a seasoned driver, and still she was impressed that the strength of the hit against the seats didn't make Alex flinch for even a moment.

"Took them long enough." Alex smiled and with a flick of her wrist, the spell was undone and they were finally able to hear Klaus and Elijah.

"Why yes noble Elijah, why don't we politely ask Rebekah's little brat to let us out to stretch for a bit, I'm sure she'd be delighted to hear such a proposal...Oh, I forgot, she can't bloody hear us!" Klaus was the first voice the two women in the front could make out.

"The brat has perfectly good ears thank you, however, she is not taking requests at this very moment. Try again later." Alex countered and Caroline couldn't help herself but giggle at her response.

"Oh, so you can hear us. Brilliant. How about you answer the questions we've asked about a thousand times, hm?" Klaus spoke again.

"Well...I can hear you now, but before Care and I were having somewhat of a private conversation, so I couldn't quite catch up to any of your questions." Alex tried to explain.

"Yes yes, Caroline and her stupid privacy spell." Klaus muttered and the blonde couldn't help herself but say:

"Stupid huh? You certainly didn't think so when it saved you from yelling at your daughters door all afternoon."

Klaus was silent for just a moment, finally giving Elijah the chance to talk.

"Alexandra, I thought we were only going to Davina's family cabin outside New Orleans. If I remember correctly that place mustn't be more than a couple of hours of driving from the compound...Care to explain why it's taken you more than ten?" He politely asked and even if the women couldn't see it, they could imagine Klaus mocking Elijah while he spoke.

Alex on the other hand, was impressed that he was keeping track of every single hour that had passed since they left the Mikaelson compound. But then again, that was Elijah.

"You see...There's been a slight change of plans..." Alex smiled slightly, and once more, Caroline could see the Mikaelson in her.
