"Okay. The joke is over." Kol said regaining his composure. They all had grown to love Hayley very much over the years and losing her had been hard for everyone.
"What makes you think I'm joking?" Alex frowned, feeling a little offended.
"I'm not sure, but it sure isn't funny." Davina said, and the young girl could see the defensiveness creep back into her aunts' eyes.
"Listen, I know it sounds crazy. But think about it, you both came back from the dead yourselves; you know it's not impossible."
"That was when the other side existed! Now it's all gone. There is no way..."
"There is alwaysa way." Alexandra interrupted, as serious as ever.
"Well, aren't you the all-powerful witch in town?" Davina said crossing her arms.
"Well, considering the fact that I'm here asking for your assistance with this particular task, I would've hoped that you understood that can't do this alone. I've never done it before. If I knew how to do it I wouldn't have had the need to travel back in time to prevent Elijah and Klaus from dying."
The room was silent for a moment, the older couple realizing the young girl's logic, yet still struggling with the whole concept of what they were being asked to do.
Surprisingly, Davina was the first of the two to talk.
"And what would you need us to do?" She asked in a serious but determined tone.
"Hold on a second!" Kol protested, even knowing that his wife had already made her decision to help. "Wouldn't Noble Elijah be the most suited for this job?"
"I need to pick both Elijah's and Klaus' brains, plus...I don't want them to get too...Invested...in this situation and lose focus on the original plan." Alex explained, hoping they would understand the hidden meaning behind her words.
"The disappointment of failure would crush Elijah, and he's feeling guilty enough as it is." Davina said, understanding perfectly what the other girl meant.
"Needless to say that Hope can't find out about it either..." Alex said. "At least not for now."
"Okay." Kol conceded while nodding, and then asked again "What's the plan then?" He asked and a small smile crept up on Alex's face once she realized she actually could have a shot at making it happen.
God she lovedKol and Davina. If they weren't still so freaked out by her sudden appearance into their lives, she would've hugged both of them as tight as possible.
"After the funeral, get out of New Orleans as fast as you can. I was looking into a witch in the south of Brazil who might have a better idea of what happens to the supernatural creatures once they die since the other side is no more. If you could go talk to her and do some research of your own, that'd be great. At this point I'm open to anything, we needto get Hayley back." She wasn't shy to emphasize the word need in her statement, getting Hope's mother back to the land of the living had been one of the first things on her agenda.
They both nodded solemnly and the three of them dove right into a deeper conversation about what the next steps to take would be.
In the meantime, and all the way over at the Mikaelson compound, Klaus kept trying to talk to Hope, who refused to open her door unless he agreed to let her go with them.
"HOPE!" Klaus yelled again. "Open this door right now!!"
"Are you going to let me go with you?" The teenage girl said nonchalantly walking towards the door from inside her room.
He sighed and heard her huff and walk away once more. He was three seconds from breaking the door down, but he knew she had spelled it somehow and wasn't sure of what the outcome would be.
"Having a little trouble over there?" Klaus heard a soft but amused voice come from the side, and upon turning his heart swelled at the sight of Caroline leaning against a wall. She looked so out of place and yet so right inside the compound, he couldn't quite describe the feeling of happiness that he experienced by just having her around.
"Hope is just being difficult at the moment, love." He said trying to pretend he wasn't completely frustrated with his daughter's current attitude. "I just don't understand how she can be so stubborn!"
"Gee, she reminds me of a certain someone. Let me think for a second to see if I can remember his name..." his favorite blonde said playfully while stroking her chin, pretending she was thinking. "I think it starts with a K..."
"It's not funny, Caroline." He said somberly and she just smiled a little wider.
"Let me see if I can help." She offered and he just looked at her with utmost surprise. For a second he wanted to pinch himself to make sure he wasn't dreaming. But no, that was just ridiculous.
"I appreciate it love, but I don't think a cure has been invented for stubbornness!" He yelled a little louder for Hope to hear and Caroline almost face palmed at his childish antics.
"HA! Well that explains a lot!" Hope yelled from inside her room and then there was silence again. Caroline could see the rage building up within Klaus
"Why don't you go pack? or you know...Run whatever evil errand you may have pending while I try and talk with Hope?"
It was then Klaus' time to smirk. "Are you kicking me out?" He said and crossed his arms smugly.
"I could let you keep yelling at the door, if you'd like?" She said raising one of her eyebrows.
He raised his hands and with a small laugh, walked away.
Not too far away though...he was really interested in what Caroline thought she could say to do what he hadn't been able to, and of course, he was to stay and listen.
As he heard the blonde hesitantly call out his daughters' name, his heart swelled once more and he realized how glad he was to be alive and able to witness that moment.
He was way too lost on his own thoughts when he picked up some interesting words.
"I'm going to teach you a spell so we can have a little bit of a more private conversation, alright?" Caroline said, and after that, there was absolute silence.
Klaus paced back and forth for about 20 minutes in the hallway before Hope's door opened again and Caroline calmly walked out closing the door behind her.
"What happened?" He demanded, and she just raised her eyebrow.
"Seriously? You haven't moved from here this whole time?" She questioned while she crossed her arms sassily, even if she already knew the answer.
"I couldn't hear anything!" He defended himself.
"Good! That was the point!" She retorted. "Hope will come downstairs to talk to Rebekah about the funeral and say goodbye in a little bit." She informed and he caught a glimpse of the headmistress hiding behind those stunning blonde curls.
"What did you do?" He said, clearly impressed at the effectiveness of her ways
"Believe me, having Lizzie Saltzman as a daughter makes dealing with any other teenager a walk in the park." Caroline smiled fondly remembering her lovely daughter's very particular character.
