"tao, you wanna help me clean up?" yixing asked his friend in chinese. he and tao were a bit closer than yixing was with baekhyun and jongdae. not because he necessarily preferred him (he wasn't the type to pick favorites), but because they had a bit easier time communicating."no, but i will," tao responded. he stood up from his chair. baekhyun and jongdae had left around ten minutes ago, saying something about their landlord texting them that there was a leak in a pipe or something. yixing sneezed, immediately covering his mouth and nose before he could be called discourteous.
"fuck, is there dust in here?" yixing asked, looking on the furniture. easily enough, there was dust.
"just my luck," yixing sighed.
"i'll help you clean, hyung," tao offered, "its a bit early for me to be getting home anyways."
"okay," yixing nodded.
honestly, does that junmyeon guy never clean or something?
"oh, by the way, i bumped into your ex girlfriend," tao said, helping yixing pick up the food and close the takeout boxes properly. tao held the fridge open as yixing put the food into it.
"oh, really?" yixing asked, slightly stiffening, "how funny. how is tzuyu?"
"well... she's still cursing your name," tao said awkwardly, "it was bad, hyung. maybe you should talk to her."
"and tell her what? 'oh, hey, remember how i was supposed to be a doctor and your husband despite the fact that i'm twenty-three? remember how you used to cheat on me and i'd ignore it because i loved you? yeah, well, that's in the past so let's be friends'," yixing scoffed, "doesn't work like that, taozi."
"i'm not saying be friends with her," tao said, "and technically you did become a doctor. you have your emd for residency in surgery."
"and yet here i am, in university once again, so that i can become a certified choreographer," yixing sighed, "why do you guys ever let me act on my instincts?"
"cause if we didn't you'd be outrageously miserable," tao said, checking under the sink for something to wipe down the dust with. yixing sneezed again.
"dear god," yixing sniffled, putting his mask back on, "ah, and i'd be content with being miserable."
"that doesn't make any sense," tao said.
"well, tao, nothing i say or do makes sense," yixing sighed, "so how was your day?"
"pretty bad, not gonna lie," tao said, frowning slightly, "some girls called me a retard."
"what?" yixing scoffed, spraying down the glass dining table with windex and then wiping it with a paper towel, "why?"
"cause i have trouble with korean still," tao sighed, "they didn't think i understood it. i understand the majority, i just can't speak it all that well. the pronunciation difference throws me off."
"you'll get used to it," yixing said. tao shook his head.
"no, i don't think so. maybe i should just go back to china or whatever," tao said, obviously very upset over the matter, "no one ever understands what i say when i talk in korean."
"baekhyun, jongdae and i understand you," yixing said, "and please don't move away. i'd be extremely sad."
"i thought you were content with being sad?"
"i'm content with being miserable," yixing said, "not at all content with being sad. if i were i'd have stayed with tzuyu and continued my job as a surgeon."
