things were awkward for the next few days.

yixing's and junmyeon's friends always tried to get them to join their plans, but they'd respectfully disagree if they saw the other was going. luckily enough, yixing had started teaching dance at a studio and was attending classes at a music university, so he had more chances to dodge junmyeon. plus, monday rolled around, so junmyeon was teaching most of the day. yixing taught mainly afternoon courses and attended school at night, so he would sleep in while junmyeon got ready to leave the apartment. but there was a few times when they were forced to interact with each other.

junmyeon:
yixing hyung

junmyeon:
i know you're probably asleep right now and there's no point in texting you but i seriously need your help right now

junmyeon:
i left my binder in my room and it's essential for my classes today

junmyeon:
could you please bring it whenever you see this message?
sent one minute ago

yixing woke up because he had his phone on the five buzz ring per message option. plus, he fell asleep with his phone on his face, so over the night it moved to his knee. waking up to a vibration on his leg was weird, and he only woke up because it slightly tickled. yixing slowly sat up and read the messages, still half asleep. yixing nodded to himself, groaning through a yawn.

yixing:
what time does your first class start?

junmyeon:
in five minutes, i'd go back and get it myself but i just don't have the time to do that

yixing:
okay i'll probably be a little late since i need to make myself not look like a rat but i'll get there as soon as possible

junmyeon:
thanks hyung, oh, and it's a navy blue binder

yixing:
no problem

junmyeon:
hyung

yixing:
yes?

junmyeon:
travel safely, okay?

yixing sighed, that similar flip in his gut made itself apparent once again, and he sighed to himself heavily. he knew damn well junmyeon shouldn't affect him so much, and wondered if he was the only one who got happy when the other was even slightly affectionate. he got up from his bed, sending a quick respond of 'i will' to junmyeon before beginning to get ready. though he knew he shouldn't really care, he wanted to look nice for junmyeon. plus, all of his students would be there so he wanted to make a good impression even though he'd probably never see them again. he washed his face, brushed his teeth, styled his hair, etc. he put on a black muscle tee with black ripped skinny jeans and a black bomber jacket. all black was a good look for him, there was no denying it. he sighed, going over to junmyeon's room. he spotted the navy blue binder on junmyeon's desk, along with a stack of graded papers. junmyeon must've been in a rush this morning, seeing as he had sticky notes basically everywhere. yixing read them all quickly, figuring out that he needed the graded papers as well since he wanted to hand them out today. yixing quickly categorized them by period number and placed them in the binder before leaving the room, making a mental note to clean it before junmyeon got home since it was a hellish mess.

"why does this kid never clean?" yixing mumbled to himself, shaking his head. he sighed, making sure he had everything that junmyeon would leave before leaving the house. luckily the high school wasn't too far away so walking wasn't much of a hassle. it was a bit hot, since he was wearing all black, but he didn't sweat so it wasn't a big deal to him. he registered himself as a visitor through the front office and then somehow found junmyeon's room number.

"hey," yixing said, knocking on the open door. junmyeon looked slightly stressed, and his students were talking amongst themselves loudly.

"oh my god, thank you," junmyeon said, quick to pull yixing into the room, "i literally owe you my life."

"it wasn't an issue," yixing shrugged, everyone now staring at him. after all, it wasn't everyday a model-like guy walked into their classroom.

"mr. kim, who's this?" a girl at the front seat asked.

"this is my roommate, zhang yixing," junmyeon said to his students, looking through his binder, "cool, everything's here. thanks, hyung."

yixing nodded, staring at the students staring back at him. they looked to be freshmen and sophomores. yixing seemed to be as tired as the kids were.

"did i wake you?" junmyeon asked. yixing nodded.

"yes, you did," yixing spoke truthfully, "but it's okay. i don't mind."

"you don't?" junmyeon asked.

"no, i don't," yixing shook his head, his mouth moving faster than his brain did, "you're more important than sleeping."

junmyeon bit back a smile, shaking his head just slightly to himself. were the words genuine, or would yixing take them back the second things got too serious?

"sometimes i think you don't understand the weight of your words, hyung," junmyeon said, "do you mean what you say?"

"i'd never tell a lie. i say what i mean and i mean what i say."

junmyeon nodded, only half believing the words.

"then you're cheesy," junmyeon decided, "can't take cheesy people seriously, sorry, hyung."

"i wish you could see yourself the way i do," yixing sighed, "then you'd see that i'm not being cheesy, just truthful."

yixing walked to the classroom door. junmyeon took it as his last opportunity to say something.

"wait, hyung."

yixing turned to him, an eyebrow raised in question.

"can we have dinner together?" junmyeon asked shyly, looking at the floor. yixing blinked, slightly going rigid at the question.

"we really shouldn't," yixing said. junmyeon sighed, still staring at the ground. he expected the answer, and he wasn't sure why he asked the question, he just knew that being around yixing made him feel some type of emotion that he hadn't felt in a long time.

"right, sorry-"

"i'll cook. be home by seven, don't stay at school too late."

junmyeon looked up to face the elder properly, but yixing was already out the door. junmyeon broke out into a grin once the words processed. and suddenly he had that familiar feeling in his stomach, and this time he knew what it was.

butterflies.
