sam sat calmly behind the store counter, whistling a common tune to himself while he organizes flowers. he always thought flowers were quite calming, and lots of lovestruck people came in everyday to get a little somethin' somethin' for their s/o. he enjoyed running a shop in which people could find happiness in. he smiled to himself.

colby huffed, staring at the stores welcoming sign before angrily stumbling in, almost tripping over his own shoes as he walked up to the counter. "excuse me, how do you say fuck you in flower?"

sam had to stop himself from snorting at this very emo man who just found himself in a flower shop. he stepped out from behind the counter and gently took a bouquet of flowers from the windowsill. "uhh... i mean, yellow carnations can tell someone you think they're a disappointment."

"perfect, i'll take those. can you write a small note for it too real quick?" colby's trying to keep his seething annoyance at bay, playing with the rings on his fingers to distract himself.

"i sure can, what would you like it to say?" sam asked as he stepped back behind the counter, grabbing a notecard to write it down on.

"uhh, okay, maybe, 'fuck you, you're paying for every meal i eat for the next twenty years. you're a disappointment to me.' would be great." colby suggested, not caring if this worker judged him in the slightest.

"okay." sam grabs a blue pen and writes down, 'i love you! i'll pay for all your meals for the next twenty years if you let me! you mean a lot to me and i love you so so much!' sam places the notecard face down. "that'll be thirteen dollars."

colby hands him his credit card, taking the flowers a lot more softly than he would have earlier, he's a little less angry now. "thank you."

sam swipes it. "it's all yours, good luck with that." sam gave the card back and returned to organizing his flowers, a slight smirk on his face.

colby stuffs his card away, mumbling, "i'm gonna fuckin kill jake." as he walked away from the register.

-

jake smiles after reading the card, "dude, i love you so much too! where did this come from?"

"what?"

-

sam switched the 'open' sign on, stretching as he begins another day of work. he smiles as he remembers the emo guy from yesterday, who will surely be back to complain. sam didn't mind, he was pretty cute.

colby was invited to breakfast with his friend corey, the flower shop being right next to the place they were looking to eat at. "i'm gonna pop in this flower shop real quick."

he pushes the door open, suddenly popping his eyebrow up in annoyance as he frustratedly leaned against the counter. "you cost me twenty years worth of money."

"actually," the blond man said, "if i had charged you for what you really wanted, it wouldve been up to thirty dollars, thank me later." he winked. "although i gave you a senior discount because you act like my grandma."

"i would've rather spent the thirty then let me dumbass best friend think i wasn't annoyed with him." colby huffs, playing with a pen on the counter.

"what's your problem, anyway?" sam asked, grabbing a rose and cutely looks down at him.

"he painted my room pink, printed out pictures of himself and taped them every where. not to mention, he glued my hand to my face while i was taking a nap on our couch." he glances up at sam, a searing blush spreading over his cheeks as he notices how cute the blonde looks.

"okay. so why dont you paint his room black and sit in the middle naked on a bearskin rug with a saxophone playing 'silent night'?" sam asks casually, as if he had said it hundreds of times before.

colby chokes on his own spit before countering, "because he'd enjoy that too much. i have to do something he'd hate."

"okay, well put too much hot sauce in his spaghetti? glue a wig onto him? place a robot doll in his room and control it while hes asleep so he wakes up and screams? see, you're just not thinking enough."

colby lets out a breathy laugh and pushes himself off the counter, "what's your name?"

"if i tell you that, you might make a voodoo doll of me." he winks.

"oh my god-" he laughs and covers his mouth, quickly running a hand through his hair. "do i look that emo?"

"yeah, but it fits you. you look good in it." he chuckles. "sam. my name is sam. how about you, emo boy?"

"hah hah, funny. the name's colby." he smiles softly and holds his hand out, "well, sam, if that's even your real name.. how do you ask someone on a date in flower?"

"the only flower i can think of..." he trails off, walking out from behind the counter and getting real close to colby. "is the one standing right in front of me."

colby licks his lips nervously, trying to think of a quick, smooth line. "um.. i-i'm supposed to be at breakfast with a friend.. but my lunch and dinner are completely open?"

"come by around noon?" sam asked, trailing a hand up colbys chest.

"yes- yeah-" he watches sam carefully and blushes.

"see you then, colby." sam backed away as a couple walked in. "hey! what can i help you with?"

colby was smitten and it had only been a day.
