THANK YOU FOR 1K!!
takes place in kansas, based around colby's youtube video.

colby sighed tiredly, crashing on his bed with a small bounce and an exaggerated 'oof'. he yawned and picked his phone up lazily, almost dropping it on his face.

he and sam were supposed to go on a band trip for their school but it got postponed till next weekend. it had to do with too many members being sick and a possible thunderstorm.

colby's parents were on overtime this weekend, instead of being home at two they were coming home at six.

he was beyond bored gas he finally decided to pull himself off his bed to go make himself some lunch. he drags his fingers across his eyes as he stalks his kitchen cabinets for anything that was at least appetizing.

he furrows his eyebrows when the ring of his doorbell sounds throughout the house. "what..?" he whispers, confused. he grabs a nearby hoodie and struggles getting it on before opening the door, "sam-?"

colby's eyes widen when he sees the football team standing in a line, frowns on their faces.

"cole robert brock." the captain, he guessed, growled while grabbing him by the hood of his sweater. the jock pushes him to the ground while the others surround him.

"what the hell?! what are you guys doing?!" colby breathed heavily, panic rising in his chest and clawing at his mind. he pushed himself up on the ground, his eyes flicking from each football member quickly.

the pain was like a knife being twisted into colby's spine. it shot up fast, erasing every thought from his head and paralyzing his body. he screamed, not that his mind comprehended it happening. he can only hold his arms around his head and breathe, breathe slow and deep until it passes. there is no blood anywhere but his abdomen turned purple, the bruises on his arms and legs only worsened with each kick and each punch. he could feel the blood begin to pool in his mouth as he began to cough, the blood slowly spilling over his bottom lip. a splitting headache surged through his head like a bat hitting a baseball.

when it stopped, it didn't fully register. colby shook violently, whimpering as the pain increased for no clear reason. he lifted his head slowly, his breath being hot against his own lips. he groaned as he pushed himself up, watching the team cackle as they walked away, their phones still in their hands.

colby's eyes widened when he realized they'd recorded it. he felt the wet, hot tears sting his eyes. an involuntary sob crawled out his mouth, worsening the pain he felt around his body.

he needed sam and he needed him now, his only motivation to keep moving was sam. he sobbed in pain, grabbing his phone that he'd left in the kitchen.

sammy: wanna hang out i'm bored
sammy: it's been like 30min where r u??
sammy: u always have ur phone are u ignoring me or smth??

his fingers trembled as he hit the call button next to sam's name, trying but failing to hold in his cries.

"hey- oh my god, colby? what's going on?"

"h-help, please, everything hurts-" he sobbed through his words, breath shaky as he tried grabbing ahold of himself.

"oh my god- okay, i'll be right there. sit tight okay?"

"o-okay-" he coughed, sam hanging up. colby stumbled to his couch, holding his stomach like he was trying to keep his innards.

as sam rushed into colby's house, opening the door with key he was given, his heart fell right through to his sneakers. when he rounded the corner, he saw more purple than clear skin. colby's left eye was swollen, and his face still held blood and his clothes were an utter mess.

he tried to say sam's name, his cracked lips failing at the first syllable, but he didn't need to, sam was already kneeling next to colby.

"hey, shush, oh my god.." sam reached to brush colbys bangs out of his forehead, "okay, hang on, buddy." he pushed himself back up before running to the kitchen, almost slipping due to his socks against the tile.

sam grabbed a washcloth and wet it down before rushing back to colby, dabbing it on his cracked lips and bloodied forehead. colby hissed, reaching to grab sam's wrist and push it away.

"colby, stop, i need to help you." he gently pushed colby's arm to the side. "what happened?"

".. the football team." colby mumbled, finally using his voice. "they recorded it, sam-" he felt the whimper rise in his tone.

"that doesn't matter, just breathe right now, okay?" sam brushed colby's hair back out of his face, checking his head and face over once again.

"they're gonna post it everywhere.." colby rolled his eyes, sitting up with a wince.

sam sat down next to him before gently pushing colby's head back down on his lap, "can you relax? you just got the shit beat out of you." he sighed.

colby huffed, not bothering to move his head from sam's lap. it was a lot more comfortable than it looked, ".. thank you."

"don't thank me.. i'm not gonna let them hurt you again." sam threaded his fingers through colby's hair, feeling more at ease when he saw his best friend close his eyes and fall asleep.

colby stayed home from school which left sam alone, but he didn't mind. not if it meant colby was getting the rest he deserved.

sam growled when he saw the football team shoving each other down the hall, their boisterous laughs echoed throughout all the hallways. he couldn't stop himself.

"what do you want, golbach? mad over what happened to your boyfriend?" the captain mocked him, the other students taking a glance in the commotion, "i posted that all over the media yesterday."

sam heard the sickening crunch of the boys nose and he felt his knuckles begin to throb with a dull ache.

"don't fucking touch him again or so help me god, this isn't the worst you'll get."
