colby ran through the snow, laughing loudly.

him and sam had just finished filming an exploring video. from having just run away from the police, he was a little too excited.

"sam!" he turned and stopped, a wide smile plastered on his face when he realized they'd run far enough.

sam heaved as he caught up to him. "yeah?"

"you cannot tell me that wasn't fun." colby swung his arms as he continued to walk, "that was the most fun i've ever had running from police."

"i mean yeah it was fun, besides my lungs wanting to collapse." sam rubbed his arm as he trotted behind colby, swaying a little.

colby took a step, almost slipping. "oh fuck," he laughed out of surprise. "it's ice, be careful."

he took a moment to realize they had to cross the seemingly completely frozen ice, seeing it ran for miles.

was this even the way they came at the beginning?

sam paused and looked around. "colby, do you know where we are?" he took a gentle step onto the ice.

colby shook his head slowly, not thinking twice before sliding across the ice with a smile.

he made it toward the middle before turning to look at sam, "no. i'll pull out my phone, i pin dropped our car-"

a large crack spreads out across the area sam began to place his foot on. he froze in his spot.

"hey, colby, whatever you do, stay very still, okay?"

colby glanced up with confusion, going to take a step toward sam before cracks sprung up from under him and spreading across the ice.

he shot his eyes back down to the ice, panicking. "s-sam-" he placed his arms straight out to balance himself, looking up with pure fear.

"stay still!" sam shouted, gently scooting back. "if you move, it'll only make it worse."

"sam!" he shouted back as the cracks continue to spread out. "sam, they aren't stopping!"

sam, in a panic, slowly inched around the cracks. "dont panic! just- just try to come back!"

colby breathed heavily and errantly, slowly taking a gentle step back toward sam.

a horrible crunch meets the pairs ears, colby picked his head back up to meet sams worried expression.

"sam-!" before he could finish he felt the ice crumble beneath his feet, his piercing scream barely registered in his own mind as he collided with the freezing water. he tried reaching for the ice as he fell.

blood stained the edges of the ice.

sam screamed as he launched himself over to the water, light enough that the rest of the ice didn't cave in.

he swept away snow as he tried to find where the current was taking colby. when he sees the brown hair floating just beneath the thick ice he starts punching it with all his might. the blood seeping out of his fists was no match for his determination to save his boyfriend.

one moment, it was bloody, and the next sam struggled to lift colby out of the water. he drug him off of the ice and onto the snow covered ground.

sam shook his friend before pinching colbys nose and trying to push his breath into his lungs.

once, twice, thrice before colby jolted forward and coughed, turning onto his side to spit the water out of his mouth. he shot his hand to his side and breathed raggedly.
