The Order of the Pig Story 5: A Secret Beneath the Waves

Chapter 3 - Adventure Opportunity

We walked into her living room and what we saw made our jaws drop and our eyes widen.

Petra: "Well, what do you think?"

Jesse, Lukas, Olivia & Axel: "We have no idea."

Petra had decorated her living room as an ocean theme... thing.

Jesse: "Petra, why did you do this?"

Petra: "I have an idea for my birthday and an adventure."

The word adventure mad our faces light up. She took a blanket off a small bowl of water and said.

Petra: "Guys, let me introduce you to Kelpie."

We all looked at the small bowl.

Lukas: "He's a fish."

Petra: "Yeah."

Olivia: "Why do you have a fish?"

Petra: "He's not just any fish. He can talk!"

Axel: "Petra, are you going mad?"

Petra: "No! He really can talk. Say something, Kelpie."

The fish stayed silent. Petra got cross, turned to Kelpie and said sternly to him.

Petra: "I told you to cooperate or there's no deal! These are my friends and they're coming too! So, un-button you're lip!!"

Petra turned back to us and smiled. Then, the fish spoke.

Kelpie: "Oh, fine. But I'm only doing this so I can go home."

Jesse, Lukas, Olivia & Axel: "AAHH!!"

Reuben jumped into my arms.

Petra: "See."

Jesse: "Petra! How... did you come across... a talking fish?!"

Petra told us the story... A FEW DAYS AGO...

I was walking down the street and I passed the pet shop. Suddenly I heard a voice coming from the pet shop.

Kelpie: "Hey! You there! Girl!"

I looked around. No one was there. I pointed to myself.

Petra: "Me?"

I heard the voice again.

Kelpie: "Yes you! I'm in the pet shop! Come here! To the window!"

I walked up to the window thinking there would be a person trying to get my attention. But then I thought, If someone was trying to talk to me, why don't they just come out here. I walk up to the window thinking I would need to deal with some kind of jerk but there was no one there. Just a bunch of fish tanks.

Petra: "Hello?"

This is where I thought I was hallucinating. I hear an answer coming from this fish.

Kelpie: "Good, you heard me. Now, listen up. I have a proposition."

A little scared and confused, I played along.

Petra: "Ok."

Kelpie: "You're probably wondering how I'm talking."

I just nodded.

Kelpie: "That is because I have been sent on a mission by The Almighty, King Saturn of Subtropolis. An underwater city of Merfolk."

Petra: "They exist?!"

Kelpie: "Of course. Though considering your own history, I should think that wouldn't surprise you."

Petra: "Heh. Yeah. Seems that way now."

Kelpie: "Oh. I'm terribly sorry. Now I'm being rude. My name is Kelpie. What's your's?"

Petra: "I'm Petra."

Kelpie: "Yes. I thought so. Anyway. His majesty sent me to bring you back."

Petra: "Me? Why me?"

Kelpie: "Was it not you who saved your friends from a volcano, flew them to safety and took care of them?"

Petra: "Well, yes but I..."

Kelpie: "Excellent! Then it must be you he needs. Also, I hate it up here. I really need to go back to the ocean or I'm going to loose my mind! So what do you say? You free me from this hideous prison, I take you on an underwater adventure to meet our glorious king."

Petra: "Hold up! Did you say adventure?"

Kelpie: "I did."

I thought for a second.

Petra: "You got a deal, Kelpie. On one condition..."

Kelpie: "What is it?"

Petra: "I get to bring my friends."

The sassy fish rolled his eyes.

Kelpie: "Oh, fine."

Petra & Kelpie: "Deal!"

Petra: "...And that's how it happened. I went into the pet shop, bought him and now he's going to guide us on an underwater adventure!"

Jesse, Lukas, Olivia & Axel: "YES!!"

We were all dancing around, excited.

Order of the Pig: "ADVENTURE!!"

Kelpie: "Uh. Human kids these days. We leave early tomorrow! Do you all have sources of oxygen?"

We all smiled and showed him our Breather Bubbles.

Kelpie: "What have I gotten myself into?"
