Summary: You've reached a point in your relationship with Ethan where you feel like you might be losing him, and you wish that things would go back to how they used to be

🥺🥺🥺
I love u

You smiled at Ethan's snapchat as it vanished from your screen. He was curled up in bed, face half covered by his blankets and pillow, but you could see there was a small smile on his lips. It had only been six days since you last saw him in person, but it felt like you hadn't seen him a month.

Love you too. good night x

After sending him one back, you put your phone on charge and pulled back the covers of your bed. You didn't know why you were at your house and not with Ethan. A few months ago, if you'd been in the same city, like you were tonight, he would've driven over to your house and picked you up himself. If you were in the same city, you would have ended up asleep in Ethan's arms.

So getting into your cold bed, alone, hurt more than it should have.

You were seeing him tomorrow, before he had to leave for New York again the day after, but it felt like you were wasting time you could've been spending with him. Why hadn't he called? Why weren't you with him now? You felt tears painfully poke at your eyes, and you rolled your eyes, groaning as tears started to spill over your waterline. You were tired of crying over this.

The time you spent together never felt like enough anymore. You missed him.

-

The next day, when you arrived at his house, Ethan greeted you at his door, pulling you into a hug with a smile. "I missed you," he mumbled into your hair.

"I missed you too." You breathed in deeply, taking in his scent, hugging him tightly.

"You okay?" he asked, a hint of amusement in his voice as he pulled away from you.

You nodded, turning away from him, not wanting him to notice the dark circles under your eyes that had formed from crying over him the night before. "Yeah, I'm fine."

He frowned, closing the front door, then jogging to catch up to you walking to his room. "Y/n. Y/n." He grabbed your wrist, pulling you back so you were standing in front of him. "Hey, what's wrong?" he asked, gripping and squeezing your hands.

You sighed. How did you think that he wouldn't notice? You shook your head. "I don't want to talk about it right now."

Ethan let go of one of your hands to brush some hair off your face. "Will you want to later?"

No. You were never going to want to tell your boyfriend of two years that you felt like your relationship was running away from you. But you shrugged. "Yeah, I guess."

"Okay," he said hesitantly. He smiled, and you just stared blankly at him. "You're kinda scaring me," he nervously laughed.

Your heart was beating hard in your chest, your breathing shaky at the thought of telling Ethan what you'd been feeling for the past two months. You leaned forward, wrapping your arms around him and hugging him tightly. You wanted to tell him not to worry, but that would be an unfair thing to say.

You wanted to stay like this forever. Holding onto Ethan tightly, his arms sheltering your body, feeling his heart beat. Just the two of you. Just feeling that he was real, and not just a picture behind a screen.

He pulled away and kissed you, told you that you could tell him anything, and then pulled you to his room.

You knew it was a terrible cliche to say, but with the numbers on Ethan's videos and comments on his photos growing every week, with other big names on social media constantly talking about your boyfriend, you became increasingly aware of the millions of girls who would kill to be in your position. It felt like his name was in everyone's mouth, when you wanted it to only be coming from yours. All that and the constant meetings he had, the travelling, the events, the photo shoots; he was slipping away.
