We sat in bed a while after finishing breakfast. We were trying to work out what to do with our day until Liam decided he wanted to spend some time with the kids so we were coming up with family activities rather than couple activities.

I told him he had to call my dad to see if we could take the twins. He put the phone on speaker so I could listen while I got dressed.

“Hello, David Charles speaking.” he answered, trying to sound professional for some reason.

I looked at Liam, smirking at the strange way he’d answered. I hardly believed it was my dad on the other end of the line.

“It’s us Liam and Haileigh.”

“Are you in trouble dad?” I joked as I looked into my wardrobe.

“No, I'm not! What’s up?” he said with his more usual London estuary accent. “Didn't recognise the number.”

“We're gonna come and pick up the kids in a bit.” Liam told him.

“Why? Are you bored of each other already?”

“No, I wanna see my kids.”

“You two make sure you're not worse for wear first, I know what you lot get up to.”

“We're fine dad, we wouldn't ask if we weren't.” I assured him.

“Alright but we won't mind if you change your minds.”

“I'm hardly ever around, I wanna see them while I'm here.” Liam asserted. “We'll be round in a bit.”

They kept on talking long after I was dressed. I adored how they got along and talked like they were friends rather than son and father in law.

Once Liam was out of bed and dressed too he was looking at me strangely like he was trying to figure something else. “I didn't know your unmarried name was Charles.”

“It's not. I didn't get my dad’s last name.”

“Evans?” he guessed again.

“Nope, Tyler, mum's maiden name. It got difficult when mum married my step dad so then I didn't have the same last name as either parent but they didn't want me to change it unless I wanted to or I got married.”

I'd never told him about that because I was still going by my married name when I became a Gallagher.

After we’d had lunch we went to pick the twins up.

Dad let us in and led us to the living room. “We’re just doing some drawing at the minute.”

The twins were stood at his coffee table, creating art on a lot of pieces of paper with pens and pencils Dad must have just found around his house.

Liam approached them quietly so he could really surprise them. “What’s going on here then?”

They dropped their pens and their faces lit up. “Daddy, Daddy, look!” They got him down on their level, trying to be the one to win his full attention.

“What’re you up to then?”

“We were going to the zoo but it started raining on the way over so I don't know.” I shrugged.

He had me go to the kitchen so we could talk without being heard. “How did last night go?”

Liam had already told him all about it, now it was my turn. “It was really good apart from Liam trying to accuse me of cheating with the interviewer.”

“That’s a guilty mind, that.”

“I know and I was trying hard not to get angry. He brought the lad up again this morning to tell me things about him like his twentieth birthday in a week so I said that's nice like I really don't care because I'm not interested.”
