A Second Chance With You
Chapter Two

A little boy sat all alone as he cried by the edge of the playground away from the others.

They had made fun of his abnormally large ears and had given him the nickname 'Dumbo' ever since they watched the cartoon a few weeks before.
He was shorter than most kids and a bit chubby and so an easy target for bullies.

But that wasn't why he was crying.
He had been made fun of for as long as he could remember and was used to it.

What made him sad was that his one and only friend had left that morning.
She had finally been adopted leaving a lonely 6 year old with a broken heart.
When she first came to the orphanage she found other kids bulling him and hit one of them with a juice bottle on the head making him cry.

She was given a time out for being violent but the pair was inseparable eversince.
That was two years before and the boy had forgotten what loneliness felt like...well that was until she had to leave.

He was happy she had been adopted. He was happy she finally had a place she could call home.
But he couldn't help but sob because he considered her his home.

He watched as many children came in and got adopted while no one seemed to give him a second glance.
But after he met her he didn't mind staying at the orphanage because she made him feel at home.
But now he was back to being alone and he knew he would never meet her again.

One of the nuns called the children in for lunch but the little boy stayed hidden not in the mood to eat or face the others.
He sniffled sadly. Dreading the days to come without his friend.

At that moment he felt a hand on his back and almost jumped and ran away in fright.
"Shhhh..." He heard a sweet voice say as he turned to see and angel.
She was not an actual angel but she was so beautiful she had to be one of them.

She smiled at him and gazed into his brown eyes as he admired her ocean blue eyes.
She seemed oddly familiar but he was sure he had never met her before. He would have remembered that face.
"No more crying. I don't like to see you sad" she said as she rubbed his back.
His lips trembled as he remembered his sorrows.

"Bu...but she's gone and..." But he couldn't continue as he burst into tears.
"Hush my little one. I promise there is light at the end of the tunnel. I will always be watching over you so don't worry" she said with a smile which he couldn't help but mimic.

"Ouch" Rex cursed as his head collided with the metal bar on the seat in front  of him.
He rubbed his forehead when he realised he must have fallen asleep.
He had had another one of his strange dreams.

Before he could think deeply about it he jumped up as soon as he heard his stop being called out.
He rushed out before the bus was in motion again and luckily no one was entering the bus.
He had quite a distance to walk before he got back home.

"Dude what's uuuuupppp" Mike was being hyper again as Rex answered his call.
"Someone's in a good mood" Rex said with a smile.
"Don't forget to come by my house tomorrow morning. Mom said she misses you and dad said don't play around and focus on school" he said.
"I'm focused. He should be worried about you who is out partying every other day" Rex said.

"That's because I have a social life unlike someone I know who thinks reading a novel can be labeled as a social event" Mike said before laughing.
"Whatever meathead. I will see you tomorrow" Rex said as he cut the call.

It had been a while since he went over to his friends house.
He didn't hate it there. On the contrary he loved it there.

The problem was it also housed his greatest temptation.
Rex might have never dated but that didn't mean he wasn't attracted to anyone.

Mike was the eldest of three siblings. They all had dirty blond hair and dark brown eyes. They were like triplets from different timelines.

After him came his younger brother Owen who looked like a teen version of Mike but was actually 20.
He never really smiled and was the only one in the family Rex wasn't comfortable with.
He thought that maybe Owen didn't like him but always brushed off the thought and blamed his imagination.

He had never done anything to offend the man and so they was no reason he could be hated.
It was all in his head he concluded.

And then finally it was their youngest sibling and Rexs biggest temptation.
They little sister Tiffany.
Rex wasn't sure when or how it happened by somewhere along the way he fell deeply in love with her.

He found her extremely adorable and admired her from a distance.
She was his best friends little sister and even without asking he knew it was a 'do not advance zone.'

The only person he truly desired was one he could never have.
It was sad but Rex forcused more on the good than the bad.

He had so much to live for and for now he was content with watching over her and living her from afar.

But he couldn't help the strange feeling he got when he thought about what tomorow has in store for him.
He brushed it off and assumed it would be like any other day of his life.
