Second Chance With You
Chapter 3

The little boy ran as fast as his little legs could carry him.
At first he tried to stand up to his bullies. Tired of being pushed around even if he was just 8 and they were all  two years older than him.

Ever since his only friend and protector got adopted he never made another friend.
Not that he had a choice. No one wanted to be friends with the short chubby kid with large ears.

He thought his bullies at the orphanage were bad but ever since he started going to school he realised that they were just a warm up.
The bullies in school went through every single degrading nickname they could come up with and when they realised it was getting boring that's when the beatings started.

At first he went to the orphanage matron but she didn't really care and that moment he realised he was truly alone.
They fed him and sent him to school but would never care for an orphaned boy with no relevance to them.

This is why right now he was running for his life.
His bullies had cornered him after school.
He tried to fight back but was too small and weak to fight the bigger boys.

Soon they beat him up so bad he swore he passed out for some time.
He was weak but the second they got distracted he ignored the exctutiating pain as he got on his feet and ran into the forest.

They chased him for a while but it was getting late and they decided to retreat and go home.
They could always corner him the next day.

When he was sure he wasn't being followed he finally collapsed onto the forest floor.

How did his life end up this way? Wasn't he too young to be questioning the universe on his existence? If he was that worthless then why was he even born in the first place?
So many more questions swirled around in his head before everything went blank.

The young boy was awakened by a sweet melody. It was relaxing and for the first time in his life he felt at peace.
Even the throbbing of his body seemed insignificant at that moment.

He did not dare to open his eyes just in case it was a dream he didn't want it to end.
He felt fingers brush through his hair.
It was calming and ralaxing and he felt himself drift away but before he was consumed by darkness once again he heard a voice.

"Just be strong my little one. They will come a time when all this will become a distant memory"

Rex was in the shower thinking about his recent dream.

Throughout his childhood he had never met that woman but she was always there in his dreams.
He remembered the moments he was hurt and had cried but no matter how hard he tried he just had blank spots in his memories.

He was beggining to develop a headache and decided to just let it go.
He had called his therapist to tell him his dreams were getting worse.

"Relax Rex. As I said before its just your subconscious trying to find something that isn't there. You just need to get over your past struggles and move on with your life. Don't allow this to hold you back" he had explained.

Rex had let go. He thinks he did.
He was older and stronger now. No one dared to approach him since he got bigger and taller.

As soon as he got ready he headed to his best friends house.
Just for today he wouldn't think about it all and just meet up with his friends and have some fun.
Yes. That's what he was going to do. Act like a normal young adult.
