Chapter 11

Authors POV

"Is this even possible?" Luke asked as they settled in the Alpha's office.
Chris was the Alpha of the pack and his mate Ty was his right hand man and a beta wolf.
Keith, Luke and Xerxes were omegas. Kaden, Seth and Cedric were warriors. Leo and Shaun were the elders of the pack.

The pack was actually bigger with about 100 people but they needed to understand who Rex really was before introducing him to the rest of the pack.
Not only did Rex look like their old Alpha but he also shared the same name. Could it be that he was really back or was this man was just an imposter. It was clear their alpha was no ordinary man or wolf.
He was the biggest baddest alpha of all time and also the man of legends.
This Rex just seemed like an ordinary man who seemed nice and kind of clueless about a lot of things.
They couldn't be the same person.
Could they?

"I don't know but it might be him. So far everything is the same. I doubt this is a coincidence"Leo said.
"I agree this isn't a coincidence. But we also need to consider other factors. Our alpha was a red wolf which was rare and unique, but this man seems to be a silver/grey wolf which is also equally unique" Shaun explained.
"But our alpha had always been a red wolf. That's what he told me about all his past lives. His features never changed" Seth said.
He knew the most about their old alpha including the whole truth about who he was.

"Iris also mentioned they have different scents. But all these factors are still 50/50. Nothing straight is giving us any concrete answers" Chris said and they all just seemed more confused.
"Also this guy used to be human and he knows nothing of the supernatural. Our alpha knew even more than the oldest elder in the council" Keith said.
"I don't know but all I know is that man is my mate and after being broken for 150 years I finally feel put together. Can we please just figure this all out as we go?" Iris asked looking exhausted from their discussion.
"Let's just all keep an eye out for him and be ready for any surprises" Chris said and everyone agreed.

I opened my eyes and realised it was night time.
There was a thick layer of smoke all around the forest.
I forced my tired and weak body up as I looked at the carnage around me.
The forest was completely burnt and destroyed with small flames all around finishing what was left.
I was relieved when I saw a huge lump of burnt flesh far on my right side.
The mighty dragon had fallen. It was dead which meant we were all finally safe.
He did it. He saved us all.

I began to notice the rest of the pack approach me but they was only one person I needed to see.
I looked around but my heart fell when I saw specks of flaming red hair on the ground in the distance.
"NO" I screamed before rushing to him.
My body resisted but I pushed through all the pain to get to him. I had to make sure he was okay.

I turned his body around and held him close.
"Rex open your eyes" I screamed his name.
He slowely opened his eyes revealing fire red eyes which was an effect made by being in his true form just earlier on.
The form of the phoenix.
The mighty powerful phoenix of legends that I didn't know existed until now.
" Iris" he barely whispered.
"Its okay Rex I'm here. We are going to get you patched up. You are going to be fine" I tried my best to control my emotions and be strong but the tears just kept falling down like a waterfall.
I had never seen my mate, my Alpha, so weak and broken.
I couldn't lose him. Not now. Not ever.

" Iris" he whispered a bit louder, "I'm sorry...i... lied to you...about who...who I really was" I could see he was struggling to speak.
"It doesn't matter"  I said.
"I love you" he said his eyes closing.
"Stay with me. If you love me stay with me" I screamed and shook him to stay awake.
" Iris...this is my...destiny" he whispered.
"What do you mean?" I asked confused.
"The legend of the Phoenix" he said and it all came back to me.
It was a long time ago and I was only a pup at the time when my grandmother used to tell me stories about the legendary phoenix who would come when the time was right to save us all from death through his own demise.

"No no no no no no no no..." I screamed over and over again.
"I'm sorry"
"Rex don't leave me. I love you. I lo..." I was choked by my own tears.
"I promise...I will come back...to you...wait for me" He said before taking his last breath.
"Nooooo..."

I opened my eyes in a panicked state. My heart beating a thousand beats per minute.
I was about to scream when I realized where I was.
It was all just a dream. A memory more than a dream. The day I lost a part of myself.
There was a hand wrapped around my waist.
I turned to make sure I wasn't hallucinating , to make sure my nightmare was truly over.

I smiled as I admired my silver haired mate.
"Is it really you my love" i whispered, "Have you finally come back to me?" As soon as I spoke he slowely opened his eyes.
We stared at each other for a few seconds before he pulled me closer and our lips connected.
"I love you" I whispered before drifting back to sleep.
