Second Chance With You

Chapter 9

Authors POV

"KING AND PHAROAH I SWEAR IF YOU DON'T PUT THAT MAN DOWN I WILL RIP YOU BOTH TO SHREDS" Iris screamed as soon as he could make sense of what was happening. 
The twins visibly shuddered at the command. 

 Iris might have been an omega but as the mate of an alpha and their Father he had great power over them.
He wasn't even sure who Rex really was and they almost took him away from him. 

One minute he was embracing his mate and the next thing he is ripped out of his arms and getting killed. 
Kin reluctantly let go of the man and his unconscious body fell to the floor. 

Iris rushed to Rex and was relieved when he got a pulse. 
"Thank goodness" he sighed in relief. 
"Who is this man?" Roan was the first to speak. 
"Why was he touching you?" Kin asked as they glared at the unconscious man in their father's arms. 

"Why didn't you ask these questions before you decided to manhandle him" Iris lashed out still angry about the whole ordeal. 
"Who is he?" The twins asked stubbornly at the same time. 
Cole just silently watched as if he was invisible. 

"He is my mate" Iris finally spoke shocking the twins. 
"Is he..." They both said at the same time unable to ask the question. 
"No. Yes. Actually I don't know. All I know is that he is my mate and...actually let's just talk about this later. I'm tired, I now have a headache and I have to thank you two because he's passed out again" Iris lashed out at the end and this time the twins flinched at the intensity. 

"Sorry Papa" they said at the same time looking down. 
"Just leave and get me your uncle Leo" Iris said as he carried Rex back onto the bed. 
The twins reluctantly walked out with Cole behind them. 

As much as they felt bad for making their father angry they still didn't trust the stranger even if it was his mate. 
As they grew up they realised that when no one was looking their Father would frown or secretly cry in sadness. 
They later discovered that reason. 

They were amazed as who their other father was and sad that they never got to meet him. 
Even after all these years  Iris was saddened by the death of his mate leaving a void the twins failed to fill no matter how hard they tried. 

At first they hoped their father would come back soon but as the years went by they began to resent him for being away from Iris for so long. 
They loved their father and would never do allow anyone to hurt or take advantage of him. 

This is why they were going to keep an eye on the man who claimed to be his mate.

Rex woke up a few hours later. 
Every time he got a good look at the new room he realised how much he missed waking up to finding out it was all just a dream. 
He tried moving but groaned in pain as he stayed still.

He tried to move again as he took deep breaths but tensed when he felt a hand on his shoulder. 
"Don't move. Stay down" he looked up only to get lost in the now familiar blue eyes he couldn't look away from. 

It was as if time stopped.
Out of nowhere Rex raised his hand and pulled Iris down to him as their lips crashed together. 
 Iris got lost in the kiss as he deepened it but stopped when Rex groaned in pain when he put more weight on him. 

"I'm so sorry" Iris said as he jumped away from his mate so that he wouldn't hurt him. 
"I'm sorry...I'm just... It's just...these feelings...I'm so confused right now...but..." Iris silenced him with a peck on his lips.

"I'm the one who needs to apologise. I know this is all new and confusing. I should have taken it slow but my wolf couldn't resist earlier on and now a bond had begun to form" Iris tried to explain as he ran his fingers through his dark brown hair.
"Your wolf?" Rex gave him another confused look.

 Iris tried his best to explain how werewolves have two sides. The human and wolf side even though at the end we are one. 

"For a moment I thought I was crazy hearing voices in my head. Now that that's out of the way could you explain to me why my so called wolf keeps chanting mate since you got here" Rex asked a bit more relaxed.
"Well" Iris began before blushing " That's because I'm your mate. Your soul mate. We are meant to be together" 

"But we are both guys" Rex said.
"The moon goddess never makes a mistake with mates. I know you feel the mating pull that brings us together. You wouldn't have kissed me if you didnt" Iris responded with a smile
"I guess. This is all just so strange and new" Rex forced a laugh feeling a bit awkward. 

"No worries. I will help you get through this" Iris smiled.
"I'm also sorry about...all this" Iris said giving him a guilty look. 
"Why did they attack me?" Rex asked. 
"They weren't here when I brought you in and so when they caught your scent they thought you were an intruder trying to harm me" Iris explained.

"I promise they are good boys once you get to know them" he said.
"I just hope they don't try to kill me again" Rex said. 
"Don't worry. I will protect you" Iris said with a smile as he admired his mate.

Rex took a deep breath .

He was a very positive person and was going to get through this.
He could have died but now had a second chance at life. He was going to take this second chance at life and live it to the fullest. 
And knowing  Iris was now in his life made him smile and he thought of what the future held for them.
