Authors POV

Nothing was out of the ordinary. It was just a normal day just like any other day.
Mike and his friends had arrived early for their lectures and had relaxed by the corner at the back of class in their usual spot.
Making jokes and discussing their plans for the week since it was a Monday.
Students as well as lecturers were not keen on Monday activities and it was usually a lazy day.
Lecturers would just collect assignments or distribute marked tests and assignments. All the real work started on Tuesday.

You would think that they would feel a little bit guilty because of their recent unspeakable deeds but they weren't the slightest bit affected.
Actually Mike had developed more bitter feelings towards Rex because his father and Alpha was not happy about how they had handled the situation.

Flashback:

"Why on earth did you kill him" Michael roared as soon as he found out what had happened to Rex.
"That sorry excuse of human flesh had crossed the line. How dare he lay a hand on my precious sister. I had already tolerated him long enough. I was tired of playing this useless game of pretend. We should have eliminated him the first day we spotted him in the crowd" Mike spat with anger and rage.

He had so much pent up rage against the Alpha of their enemy pack.
His mother was long dead because of them but the endless pit of bitterness could never be filled.
No matter what he did. When he met Rex it all came back and now that he had finally gotten his revenge,  he believed he was once step closer to recovery.
He just wished he had tortured Rex for longer. Like how long he had suffered from loss.

"Don't you think I also wanted to end his pathetic life the second I found out he existed. I had to use impossible self control to keep it together. But we had a plan. Just In case it was him we had to keep him close. You know how powerful the phoenix is and that type of power is what we needed to end that stupid pack for good. That idiot was naive and would have believed and done anything you told him" his father spoke gritting his teeth.
Trying to keep his anger in check. All their efforts were for nothing. Mike just had to blow up and ruin everything.
"Believe me when I say that idiot was not and could never be the phoenix. He was too naive and weak. The true phoenix was a force that could never be stopped. He just looked like him but would never be useful. If he was truly the phoenix he wouldn't have been so easy to put down. He is dead now. So he will never be threat" Mike didn't need his father ruining his mood over a useless human like Rex.
Too much time had been wasted already.
"For your sake I hope that's true" Michael said before he turned and left the room.

Flashback end

At least it was all over. The only annoying thing was people who still asked where Rex had disappeared to.
He was tired of forcing a smile and explaining that Rex had to move because he found long lost relatives.
That was the excuse they had all agreed to.
Everyone knew he was an orphan so it was a logical reason for anyone in that situation to up and leave because they finally discovered they have family out there.

There was a buzz of excitement going on in the school as word got around that they were new students in their class.
As the clock ticked Mrs Black finally got to class and asked for her due assignments.
As the documents were passed to the front they was a knock on the door and Mrs Black asked them to come in.
Mike wasn't bothered but the audible gasp throughtout the whole classroom, especially from his friends caught his attention.
He raised his head only to end up face to face with the pack he hated the most, but that wasn't the reason his mouth gaped in shock.

It was impossible. It can't be.
In all his glory with a new set of silver white hair and a smirk pasted on his lips Rex stood before them. He was not dead. This was definitely not good.
