Jekyll/Hyde X Reader

A close call

Jekyll's POV

"Poole... I am not angry because I know Hyde... when d-did I start acting odd?" I ask him, looking up just enough to see him.

"Um... about a week ago sir.. on Tuesday.. you were up late one night in your room and I heard muttering, it didn't quite sound like you though sir." Poole answers, still a little nervousness in his eyes.

"Exactly... help me t-to the fire P-Poole, I'd like to warm up a little more."

Poole nods and helps me up, he helps me stand near the fire with the blanket still on my back. After a moment my voice can now steady fine and I speak again. "He is... different. You know what I intended but for what you've seen today, it is obvious that Hyde is extremely difficult to control. I've tried multiple things to delay or get rid of his attacks but I just can't.. not yet.. I will continue to try, but I can't promise that I can defeat him."

"You are very brave sir, to take on such a foe as Hyde."

"Perhaps... Poole, did you happen to see the girl that came today? I had taken her to my lab."

"Yes sir I did see her."

"I want her protected. By that I mean that she does not enter this house without my consent. Hyde is taking control almost every night now, so it's more dangerous for her. If Hyde takes control and she comes, she is to stay out until he leaves, and I am to stay locked up. Otherwise it will be in my choice at the moment if she comes in. For everyone else it is the same as usual."

"Yes sir, but may I ask why to take special care of her sir?"

"She doesn't fully understand the situation, but she's sweet and she would like to help me."

"Will you tell her, sir?"

"Yes.. I believe I will, but in time. I will not tell her tomorrow or the next day, but when it becomes dangerous then I will tell her. Hyde wants to meet her and I fear he will hurt her if he finds her."

"How long do you think it will be before he finds her?"

"Soon, if she is out at night like she was tonight, then he will find her soon, though I don't know if he saw her face. If he didn't then she may be safe for a time."

Poole nods, and so goes on the week.

A few days later, one night (I'm going to hurry a little, but not too fast)

Hyde appears in the mirror once more in my lab.

"Jekyll. It's almost dark. I'm ready to come out." Hyde says. I turn around and look at him with his taunting grin.

"Leave me Hyde. I have no time for you! I need to work." I reply, trying to stay calm.

"You have time for me. I want to search for your girl again and give her a few gifts."

"I know you Hyde!!! You're gifts are hurting people and scaring them!"

"So?"

"I will not let you hurt her!"

There's a knock on the door. "Sir, she is here to see you."

"No! Where?!"

"She waits at the front door sir."

"No!-AGH H-HYDE"
