Falling in love is the most surreal experience in the world. Actually meeting someone and thinking, wow, I want to keep them around they make me feel a million pleasant things all at once. One minute the colour green resonates to your mind as the colour representative of grass and the next minute is your favourite color because you can spend hours looking into the glossy pool of green, that sometimes turns different shades, a green that you never want to see tears fall out of because it feels like you're being punched repeatedly in the chest. I'm in love. I've never been in a love this strong. Lauren and I always had a connection there and the more time that passes I just become even more infatuated with her, there is never a dull moment even when she is forcing me to binge watch documentaries with her I sit there enthralled by the scent of her perfume, with her wrapped up in my arms, those piercing green eyes focused on the tv screen. I found the true definition of forever.
"Thanks for coming!" Lauren hugged my best mate and co-worker, Liam as he walked through the door with an unwrapped box in his hand. A microwave. Bless him. "Sorry that I'm late, and I know it's not much of a surprise but I can't wrap for shit," he laughed and walked over to the pile of gifts and placed it down. I looked at the flat full of all familiar faces that had been here for almost two hours. Lauren's father Mike's gaze met mine and he gave me a questioning nod, almost saying, when are you going to do it? I gave him a confirmation nod back and made my way to the bathroom. I shook out my nerves and reached up in the cabinet for the engagement ring. I took one last look at it and placed it in my pocket.
Lauren was walking out of the bedroom when I walked out and she looked at me with a smile and made her way over. "There you are. I thought you ran off because you weren't up for being social." I laughed and shook my head placing a kiss on her forehead. "Do you wanna do a toast? I have Dinah currently pouring glasses of champagne with the help of Louis."
"A toast?" I couldn't think of a better oppurtunity. "That sounds, great. Yeah. Let's toast." Lauren looked at with a puzzled expression on her face and then a smirk appeared on her lips. "Are you feeling okay?" she placed the back of her hand on my forehead.
"I'm great, babe. Let's go toast," I pulled on her arm and we headed back into our living area with our guests.
Lauren took a chute of champagne and passed me one before clinking a salad fork against the cup. "Here yee, here yee," she called out to get everyones attention. I shook my head and tried to stifle my laughter. "I just want to thank each and every one of you for coming out tonight, Zayn knows how much a housewarming meant to me and while it was sort of last minute it was able to happen and I want to thank him because I was running around like a mad woman trying to get everything ready. I want to thank everyone for the gifts and food provided. You're all amazing human beings and it means so much that we're all under one roof right now." Everyone started clapping and I placed my champagne down on the table beside me. "I met Lauren two and a half years ago, and I started dating her two years ago. I completely took the biggest risk to get this girl and moved to America to be close to her and I had my best mates move into a house with me here in Miami and it was the biggest transition I've ever made in my life. Everyday I am watching Lauren blossom into an even more beautiful woman and everyday she is teaching me something new about myself. Everyday is truly an adventure with her and I am ready to take that next step with her."
Once I got down on one knee in front of her everyone started to cheer and coo's of admiration filled the room. Lauren had her hands over her mouth as I dug around my pocket and pulled out the ring box. "Lauren Michelle Jauregui, you are always going to be the one, and I am certain that you're the only laughter I want to wake up to because you're tickling my leg with your toes. I am so in love with you and I want to watch you walk down the altar. Lauren, will you marry me?" I pulled open the ring box and everything was silent you could practically hear a pin drop. Tears were flooding down Lauren's face and she started nodding like crazy and held her hand out toward me. "Duh, of course I will," she giggled. I placed the ring that fit snug on her ring finger and then I stood up, we wrapped ourselves together and I squeezed her in a hug while everyone started clapping and congratulating us. "Holy shit, it's beautiful," Lauren sniffled staring at the ring. I smirked and kissed her lips.
"Only the best for you."
