"Bad things do happen; how I respond to them defines my character and the quality of my life. I can choose to sit in perpetual sadness, immobilized by the gravity of my loss, or I can choose to rise from the pain and treasure the most precious gift I have - life itself."
~Walter Anderson"And you're sure you are alright?"
"Goddamit, for the last time Yuliy. Yes, I am!"
I let out an exaggerated sigh upon exiting the mansion, entering the vast garden behind it. Yuliy was tailing after me, not letting me out of his sight for even a moment. It has been like this the whole morning, the ravenette watching out for me while I desperately tried to escape. Don't understand me wrong, I love his company, but this was going way too far. Especially since I have been telling him I'm feeling fine at least a thousand times!
And that wasn't even a lie. The pain has been gradually subsiding, now nothing more than a uncomfortable ache in my abdomen, something I could very well ignore without a problem. Still, the male Sirius had practically insisted that he watched me closely, just in case I wasn't that well just yet. Although I could understand his worry, this was slowly driving me insane.
By the way, after Dorothea greeted me with a bone crushing hug, I finally found out what exactly had happened last night. Apparently, I passed the moment I stood up on the roof, the cause probably blood loss or something along those lines. Anyway, Yuliy had carried me down after that and Dorothea patched me up again, her sewing skills sufficient enough to stitch a wound. Well, you know the rest of the story.
Philip was fine too, considering what had happened. From what I heard, Yuliy ran across Fallon and Dorothea before making his way to the roof and told them to take care of Philip. Said blonde woke up not too long after that, now walking around with bandages around his throat and a band aid on his forehead.
Also, as much as I was aware of, none of the residents got injured during this whole ordeal, although Mr. Naoe is still in shock after seeing a Vampire. Understandable, considering he never knew what our actual job was. How we were going to explain that was completely beyond me. On top of that, he probably wasn't so happy about the condition his mansion was in right now.
Most of the building had been damaged because of the fires and the fights inside. The garden wasn't any better, having suffered from the military interference. Oh yeah, the Professor really was the one to get the army to help us, equipping them with the special bullets designed to kill Vampires. Bearing in mind that the army already knew about the Vampires, that wasn't so much of a problem.
Currently, I was trying to take a peaceful walk in the gardens, since being stuck in my room would drive me insane at one point. Emphasis on trying as the overly worried ravenette still followed me wherever I went, not leaving me alone. At this point, it was probably just better to accept my inevitable fate and ignore him, but that wasn't really easy when he was asking me about my wellbeing every other minute.
At first, I found it really sweet how worried he was, but by now, it was simply annoying me.
I took a deep breath, enjoying the fresh air inside my lungs. The air also carried the various scents of the gardens to my nose, letting me relax even more. I was surprised how many flower actually survived, taking pleasure in smelling their sweet scent. I know Yuliy had complained about the flowers condition before, but I simply focused on their beauty at this point.
I watched how a few butterflies flew around, not caring about the rubble that lay around everywhere. The sun was shining up in the clear blue sky, feeling nice and warm on my pale skin. Honestly, I would love to just lie down in the soft grass, enjoying the sun on my skin while simply doing nothing. Though it probably wouldn't take me long to actually fall asleep.
