"Permanence, perseverance and persistence in spite of all obstacles, discouragements, and impossibilities: It is this that in all things distinguishes the strong soul from the weak."
~Thomas Carlyle"They're searching for the Ark."
I nodded as Yuliy spoke what I didn't dare to say out loud. I think this thought had been nagging at the back of my skull for quite a while now, I just refused to admit it. Now however, it was the only thing that made any sense whatsoever. There was too much evidence to deny it at this point.
"I fear so. That's the only thing that makes sense. Well at least it would explain your strange déjà vu moments, why the Vampires came all the way over here to Japan, why the Royal talked or even knew about the Ark and why Mikhail told us to forget about it."
"That explains so much." Even though that is true, there still so many things that we don't know or that don't add up just yet. For example, why steal from scientists when the ultimate goal is the Ark? Was it simply a distraction to keep us from finding out too much? And why did they need to travel around the whole globe in order to...unless.
"They don't know." That realization gave me at least a little bit of hope, faith that we hadn't lost yet. Even though we had lost a battle, the war wasn't over. How didn't I see this sooner?
"Huh?" Yuliy looked at me as if I just went insane, his head tilted to the side. A sure indicator that he didn't have even the slightest clue what I was saying. "Don't you see it Yuliy? They don't know! They don't know where the Ark is! Otherwise, they would have went directly to Japan and not to countless other countries first."
The confusion on the Sirius' face soon changed into realization as I said those words. Even if it wasn't much, it gave us a little bit of time. Just a little more time in order to figure everything out. At least we were on the right way as things started to add up bit by bit. However, there were still questions we have yet to answer.
"But what do they want with the Ark? As much as we know, it's an ancient relict of the Sirius. What could a Vampire possibly want with it?" I asked, trying to sort out the whole fiasco inside my head. Yuliy seemed to think about it too, before speaking up again. "The only information we have is that apparently, the Ark can either save or take a life. If that is true, it must possess enormous power. Maybe they want it because of that?"
"Well one thing is clear. I can't see the Vampires choosing the 'save' option. Meaning we'll have a huge problem if they find it before us."
"Then we'll simply find it first." I looked up in shock at the male's words, not believing I heard this right. What in the world was he thinking? How are we supposed to do this? At first, I hoped he was simply joking, but then I saw this determination in his eyes. A determination I haven't seen since the train incident. Honestly, I missed it a little bit.
Yuliy's sheer resolve was practically contagious. For only a moment, I felt all my doubts wash away upon looking in his eyes, hope filling my heart. It was as if he rekindled the flame inside of me. The one that was extinguished in the tsunami of emotion that came over me.
Perhaps we could really do this.
"Well, I propose we talk with the others first. It's always good to have other opinions and it can't be bad to ask Professor Willard again. Maybe we missed something." I said as I stood up from my bed. Stretching my limbs a little, my gaze wandered over to the window, leaving me a little shocked.
Wow, it's already dark outside. I didn't even realize how much time went by. Somehow, I always forget the time when I'm with Yuliy. On days like these, it was sure something great to let the hours fly by as if they were mere minutes.
