[08]: New Mission

2023 ― Prague, Czech Republic
"I need to go call my mom."

"The squeaky wheel gets the upgrade grease." Mr. Harrington said as their group walked inside of their new hotel. Of course, they were put in this hotel by Nick Fury. Amaya had to admit, it was very fancy and very high class, and the school wouldn't have been able to afford it on their own. She didn't like that he was trying to strongarm them into being heroes. Especially after what just happened with Thanos, and all the people they lost. Well, they got everyone back. Except for Tony and Natasha.

Amaya lost both of her godparents. It still hurts.

But she was grateful she still had Pepper and Thor. "Everyone get settled in, rest up because tonight, big surprise, is Prague's annual..." Amaya stopped listening because she could hear her phone vibrating in her pocket, so she grabbed it to check who was texting or calling her.

"Hello?" Amaya asked while walking away from the crowd.

"Little Rogers. It's Hill. There's two earpieces with Peter's suit. Both of you put them on and wait for further instructions. Understood?" She asked which made Amaya roll her eyes, but maybe the faster they beat this elemental, the sooner they'll leave her alone.

"Yeah... Got it." She said and then she hung up the phone, right as Ned and Peter walked up to her.

"Everything okay?" Peter asked.

"I'll tell you after we get settled in." She said and then Ned looked at the couple.

"Hey, look. I am so sorry if I seem like I'm preoccupied with my relationship. You know, I'm still your guy in the chair. Both of you." Ned said to them and Amaya laughed a little while Peter shook his head.

"No, it's all good. Don't worry about it." Peter said which made Ned let out a breath of relief.

"Okay. Great, great." He said.

"It's fine, Ned. Seriously." Amaya said and he nodded his head.

"So, what's the status on the Elemental thing? Where's it gonna happen?" He asked the couple.

"Uh, here... in the city," Peter said.

"Peter, Amaya. We're here!" Ned exclaimed.

"We know... we know. It's not good. Um, we're figuring it out." Amaya said.

"You guys have to do something, please. We're all counting on you both." Ned said.

"Ned?" Betty's voice rang out.

"Yeah? Yeah... babe." Ned said before walking away and Amaya sighed while looking down at the ground. She didn't want to be counted on. She didn't want people looking at her to be the hero. She just wanted to be on vacation with her boyfriend and have a good time.

"Are you okay?" Peter asked her and she sniffled while shrugging her shoulders.

"I need to go call my mom."

"Sweetie, slow down... slow down, what's wrong?" Katherine Rogers' voice came through the phone after Amaya called her in tears, and rambling really quickly, mainly in Italian. She switches on and off when she gets really upset and doesn't know what to do about it.

"I'm just supposed to be on vacation with my boyfriend and our friends, but Fury is ruining everything, Mom." She cried which made Katherine frown, but it also made Katherine mad. She knew she was retired, but her retiring didn't mean it gave Fury the right to demand her kid step up into her place.
