Outside of Tara, Ireland

The creature stopped outside the towering stone walls. It was near the entrance to a modest home. The house belonged to a small family. Living there, there was a girl and her mother.
The family was not rich, they were wealthy, but not rich. They lived a modest lifestyle. Her mother did not currently have a steady job, but they managed.
Jade was still in school. In school she excelled, and was told she would be recommended to skip two grades.
Jade was somewhat of an introvert. She had few friends, and virtually no enemies. Her only problem was that she read too much. Jade's room was lined with book shelves, every inch filled with books. There was a large window in her room with a window seat. That was where she spent most of her time.
That was where the creature saw her. It could see her small frame in the window, holding a book. I need to get in there, the creature thought. The creature weighed its options. Door? Window? Roof? It seemed the easiest way was to scale the fire escape and get in through the roof. So the creature began its ascent.
