Artemis Fowl: A Call for Help

Chapter 13

Outside of Tara, Ireland

Holly and Trouble stood behind a corner of the wall. Holly stuck her head a little outside of the wall.
"Foaly, are you getting this?" Holly asked.
"Yep. I'm recording it in crystal clear focus."
Holly rolled her eyes. Foaly was always going on about how impressive his technology was. Holly could see the creature looking up at the building.
"I think Commander Root should send up a Retrieval Team." Holly said.
"It's not your job to decide what to do, you do what I decide you should do!" Root yelled.
"By the way, Commander Root is with me." Foaly said.
"Thanks for the warning Foaly. I kinda figured that out already." Holly said.
"Uh, Holly." Trouble said.
"Yeah?" Holly asked, turning to look at Trouble.
"Look." Trouble said, pointing up at the building.
Holly turned around. She spotted the creature, pointing her helmet camera directly at it. "It's climbing up the building."
"We have eyes you know." Root snapped. "Anyways, what do you think it's tryin' to do?"
"It looks like it's goin' to the roof. Maybe it's gonna try to get in the house." Trouble said.
"Maybe, it could just..." Holly cut Foaly off.
"Look. There's somebody over there. Wait, it looks like there's two people."
"Oh yeah, I see em' too." Trouble agreed.
"Shields." Commander Root said. With both fairies shielded, they should be safe. "Fly over there and see who it is."
Holly and Trouble started their Hummingbird wings. They flew over the lawn, and stopped in front of the humans. A groan escaped Holly's mouth.
"Who is it?" Root asked impatiently.
Holly switched on her helmet camera. She told them who it was as the picture came into focus. "Artemis Fowl and Butler."
"Of course that mud boy just happened to show up." Root muttered.
"I'm going to talk to him." Holly said switching her helmet camera off. She dropped back to the ground. Suddenly she unshielded, right in front of Artemis. Butler drew his gun, pointing it directly at Holly.
"Hey! Can you please put the gun down?" she exclaimed.
"Sorry Holly. I didn't know it was you at first." Butler replied, putting his gun away.
"Thanks. Hi Artemis."
"Hello Holly. What are you doing here?" Artemis asked.
"I was going to ask you the same thing. I want you to answer first, so spill it." Holly demanded.
"Fine. Remember how I told you about that weird call from that girl Jade?" Artemis asked.
"Yep."
"Well, she told me where she lived. So I came here to investigate. I have seen that she wasn't making it up. I am here to gather more information."
"Sure." Holly said skeptically.
"Honestly." Artemis said. "Now, what are you doing here?"
"Basically the same thing as you. Trouble is here too. We're filming and observing it so we'll have a better idea of what it is." Holly said. "You can unshield now, Trouble." Holly called.
Trouble materialized behind her. Butler put a hand on his gun, ready to draw it.
"Hello." Artemis said, nodding toward Trouble.
"Hi." Trouble grunted.
What is it with those two? Holly couldn't figure it out. "So, what are you going to do?" Holly asked Artemis.
"I don't know. Now that you are here you probably won't want us interupting LEP operations."
"You could help us." Holly suggested.
"Alright. I don't see why not." Artemis answered.
Trouble began to protest. "But..."
Artemis cut him off. "Now I can gather information instead of being kicked off the property."
"Yep. We're stationed behind that wall." Holly said, gesturing towards the wall.
"Great. Let's head over there." Artemis set off at a brisk pace. Holly walked along side him, now shielded.
"Trouble doesen't like you." Holly said. "Why is that?"
"I honestly do not know. The fact that I am coming with you made him very mad though."
"Yep. Try not to fight with him. I have to fly home with him."
"Alright Holly. I will not anger him." Artemis promised.
They reached the wall.
"This is where we're observing it. There's a sheet of cam-foil right there." Holly said pointing. "So don't knock it over. Or else..." she said, looking directly at Artemis.
After the two second tour, everybody settled down to watch the creature. Fun times.
