Fowl Manor
Artemis sat at his desk. He was on the phone with his mother. His parents and brothers were on vacation in Costa Rica.
"How is everything, Arty?" Angeline Fowl asked.
"Everything is fine, Mother. How are the twins?"
They're fine. Beckett is having a lovely time playing on the beach. Myles has taken most of the time to read." Angeline replied.
Artemis smiled, he could just picture it. "And father?"
"He's having lots of fun. It's always so nice to relax. It's not too late for you to come, Arty. You could get a flight tomorrow. We really miss you."
"No, Mother. I would like to be with you, but I have a lot to do."
"Alright dear, I've got to go watch Beckett now. I will see you in a week."
"Goodbye, Mother. I will see you soon."
"I love you, Arty."
"I love you too, Mother. Goodbye." Artemis hung up, setting his phone down. Now I can get some work done. Artemis thought.
I need to figure out what that girl, Jade, was talking about. Something about the way she had sounded made Artemis think there really was something wrong. Thinking back to their short conversation, she had said something about a strange creature. She had said: "It's small, only like three and a half feet tall. It's really hairy, and its ears are pointy."
That did not sound like a human, it seemed to have a lot of fairy characteristics. Pointy ears were definitely not human, nor was being covered in lots of hair a human characteristic. It was also very short, the size of a human child. Maybe Holly knows something about it. Artemis decided it would be best to call Holly. She picked up after a few seconds.
"Yeah?"
"Hello. I have a few questions for you."
"Go ahead. I've got awhile." Holly said.
"Thanks. The other day, I received a call on my fairy communicator. It was not from you, it was from a girl named Jade. She was calling for help. She told me that there was a small creature with lots of hair and pointy ears stalking her. Her tone of voice was not something that can be faked for a prank call. I made sure she was not just imagining something. I realize you probably think I am crazy, but there is something wrong. I thought about the description of the creature. I have concluded that this creature is neither animal or human, it is a fairy."
"D'Arvit. I know you're not crazy. We got something like that spotted on the surface. In a few hours Trouble and I are gonna go up there and do a full investigation." Holly said.
"Where is this place?"
"Somewhere outside of Tara, Ireland. We're gonna try and track it."
"Thank you, Holly." Artemis said. "I feel better now that I know what it is."
"Well I gotta go now."
"Alright, stay safe." Artemis said.
All the while Artemis was plotting. Jade had told him where she lived, he felt he had to go help her. Tara was only about an hour drive away. Artemis went downstairs to find Butler.
"Butler, we are going to Tara, Ireland. Prepare the car and anything you might need. Be ready to leave in an hour."
"Alright, Artemis."
Artemis returned upstairs to pack. He would begin planning now, but it would mostly be done in the car. This would have to be perfect if it was going to work.
