Broken

Chapter Ten

"Did you come alone?" he asks me as the sun rises.
"No, Marcus came with me, but just Marcus." I promise.
"That's good. You're brother is good, he cares about you a lot." he squeezes my shoulders softly.
"How do you know?" I ask.
"Remember when you broke my father's vase and you passed out? I came by because I knew the vase was broken, of course I didn't know it would've done that to you but you're brother tackled me and would've killed me if I hadn't told him I could heal you." he whispers in my ear like he's afraid someone will overhear.
"I'll make sure to remember to keep you two away when there's an argument." I joke.
"There's something wrong, isn't there?" he asks.
"What? What do you mean?" I'm confused now.
"I sense something, Marvina, is there any enemies that have arised?" He asks.
"Well- there was my uncle who tried to kill me a couple of days ago-"
"Not your Uncle Max?" he worries.
"I don't know his name, actually, why?"
"My father forced your uncle to move to Canada because he was starting to rebel and kill innocent people, and I'm not saying that my father didn't do those things, but he wanted to protect your mother at first, so he forced him to leave and if he's back- well let's just say it's not good and we might have to fight." he cautiously speaks clearly to me about this.
"I see, so we won't be having any personal time yet?" I ask sweetly.
"What do you mean by 'personal time' Marvina?" he smirks.
"Oh my god. No," I laugh, "I didn't mean that, I meant dates." and he laughs too knowing he got to me in a way.
"You're brother is probably worried, we should get back before noon. We can talk about what you meant sometime later," he winks at me and I shove him playfully.
We walk down the mountain holding hands like we were never missing from each other and I realize in that moment, even the most damaged humans can find the happiest moments when they're with the best people.
