"Meg, I understand how it feels to be unwanted. I was unwanted of my father for a long time, and when I felt useful to him I had to betray my friends and I hate myself for that. I need you to trust us and help us," Parker influences. I am taken back by his words, I never knew all those years he was disappointed thinking about how is father left him at the academy. It all clicks together now, I understand that he betrayed us because he wanted his father to accept him again, and now he regrets all of it.
"If I do go with you, promise me I get to be treated equally." she crosses her arms.
"Of course! We wouldn't treat you in any way bad," Marcus smiles at her and she uncrosses her arms.
"Okay. Let me get my bags and we can leave." she turns around and slams the door shut.
We walk back upstairs. My hands shake, I haven't been this nervous since our last fight, and I realize that I haven't used my powers in a long time and I may not be able to use them as well here since we are in Canada, but we wait for Meg to come up the stairs.
Riding along the streets of Canada we end up somewhere where I did not expect. I thought we were in Quebec but now we are at Nigeria Falls.
"How in the world-" I begin but stop.
"That's impossible, how did we-" Parker bangs his hand on the taxi door as if he is trying to remember something, "CAB MAN LET US OUT WE ARE GOOD HERE!" Parker yells loudly.
"But we haven't arrived." he argues in a deep voice.
"Why is it always the taxi men," Marcus sighs and pulls out his silver sword.
The driver screeches to a stop and the doors fly open. I hesitate before following Parker and Meg out. We stand close to the Falls, but there are no tourist anywhere. My ears swell with the rushing sound of water and I eye Parker and he nods for me to pull out my dagger. I do so without hesitation and the taxi man steps out of the car as well and faces us.
"I always love to play games," he smiles, his teeth are dirty like they haven't been cleaned in years but when I glance again I notice they are sharper than I last saw. He bubbles black bubbles and transforms into a black oozing monster, black slime slipping and reforming in a cycle.
"What is he?" I ask.
"He's a dark lunate spirit." Parker states.
"A lunatic?" I ask.
"No, lunate, but lunatic works too," he shrugs.
The spirit advances slowly, leaving a black slime trail behind him, I ready my weapon to fight but the light flashes across my eyes. Without a trace of what happened I fall backwards. I hear Parker scream my name as my foot slips on the cliff of the Falls and the spirit blows and I fall back.
I try to scream but I can't, there's air in my lungs but not enough energy for me to scream through the wind. I try to focus as I plunge to my death. I can hear a silent battle up above the cliff, who knows what Parker is doing now. As memories flash across my brain, I focus on the happiest moments I've had. When Parker kissed me by the ocean and when he saved my life. I also focus on Marcus, we've been through so much I wouldn't be able to count how many times we'd laugh or cry. I channel my energy and hear the rush of water slow down and my body floats slower. I look as the water advances and close my eyes. I hit the water softly and a big wave slowly crashes around me, engulfing me into the water. After I crashed I hold my breath and swim upwards towards the light. I gasp for air as I reach the surface and turn to look for the nearest land. Close by I see three figures and decide to swim towards them, hoping for them to be my family and friends. I hear someone shout my name and register it's Marcus. I reach the land and cough out waters that made its way to my lungs. I see Parker speak but don't hear what he said. My vision blurs and I pass out in the mud.
