"Hey, Marvina, wake up we're here!" Marcus shakes me awake and I flutter my eyes open.
"Really?" I ask softly.
"Yes, really! Do you want me to come with you to the cave?"
"No, I want to see for myself. I'll call you if I need you." I smile and hop out of the car and wave back towards Marcus.
I start hiking up the mountain thinking about the last time I did so,
We are heading to the cave when we here a rustling near by, a ghostly snake crawls out of a bush and starts slithering towards Marvina and Liam."Marvina!" I scream but she doesn't here.
I run as fast as I can towards the transparent snake. I take a dagger out of my backpack and stab the snake in it's head. Marvina gasps and turns around and looks down at a snake inches away from her left foot.
"Are you okay, Mar?" Liam holds her and I see tears in her eyes.
"I'm fine. I'm just startled," she pulls away from Liam's hold and continues walking up the mountain towards the cave.
That moment was the first time I encountered a spirit, sure it was just a snake spirit but it was my first time and I hate snakes. I keep on hiking up the tall mountain and when I reach the cave, I remember other times too,
I walk inside the cave, cave paintings are painted inside it, it's beautiful. I see a glimmer of light and then realize it's a flashlight. I walk toward the light and see someone sitting in front of a rock, his hair is black, I catch a glimpse of his face, it's Parker. Why is Parker here?
He's talking to another person across from him,
"What about the girl?" a scrappy voice asks Parker.
"I've convinced Marvina that I love her, it was simple." I'm trying to stay calm and not to gasp.
A laugh comes from the scrappy voice man,
"That girl and her brother are the chosen ones, twins born from a royal family. The prophecy was predicting twins of the 21st generation."
"That's great, when do we kill them?"
"Not yet, young one, it's not time, they need to find the vase first and then we can kill them,"
I stumble onto a stick and it snaps. I hold my breathe as Parker walks towards the sound, he sees me,
"What is it Parker?"
"It's Marvina," he has an evil smile on his face as he grabs me around me stomach and holds me, I try to brake free but he steps on my right foot and I groan.
"It's okay Marvina, it's not time for your death," his whisper tickles my skin.
"You traitor!" Is all I can scream before I pass out.
Even though Parker did do wrong in his past, he had no choice, and I chose to forgive him for that. I can't turn back now. I walk into the cave and see it hidden behind a rock, the name Parker Harris is carved into the vase, as I stare at the base I remember another time I spent with Parker in this rememberable place,
I wake to a small fire, Parker is sitting in front of me, my mouth is duct-taped and my wrists and ankles are tied up with rope."Nice to see you too, Marvina, you've been passed out for 30 minutes," he takes the tape off my mouth.
"I hate you! You betrayed the Academy! You tricked me into thinking we were in love! I hate you!"
He sits close to me a whispers,
"I am in love with you a bit, you don't have to be on the good team, Mar-"
"Don't call me Mar! Only Liam can call me Mar!"
He chuckles, "Have you developed feelings for that weak boy?" He puts the tap back on my mouth and he holds me against him, I try pulling away but he pulls me close to him and takes the tape off my mouth quick and kisses me gently, I kick him where it hurts and he groans, my shirt is drenched in sweat.
I laugh to myself in the memory, the thought of Parker still being alive and in this vase fills me with joy and I do the one thing I can only do from now. I throw the case on the ground to break it. To release Parker from death, so I can see him again.
