"Hey Mar." Liam waves to me as I run through the hallway to first period.
"I don't have time to talk." I mumble.
He grabs my shoulder and stops me, "Mar, is something wrong?"
"No." I lie.
"Alright, I'll let you go. Hey, your mom is working here again." he smirks as he walks away from me.
I freeze in my pathway, my mother. I turn around and go downstairs to the office to find my mother talking to the secretary.
"Mom?" I gasp.
"Marvina! How are you?" she hugs me.
"Mom, what happened to your apartment?"
She purses her lips at my words and looks at the ground.
"Marvina, someone broke in, but don't worry, I destroyed him and now I'm working here again until I can get a new apartment."
"Someone broke in? Like, maybe an uncle of mine?" I stare at her.
"You went there and he was there, wasn't he?" she sighs.
"Yes, he was."
"I should've told you about him and how evil he was but I thought he was in Canada, but since Mathew died I guess he thought it was safe to come back."
"Why?" I ask.
"He was terrified of Mathew. Mathew didn't want him to hurt me anymore so he set a curse on him as long as he lived, but I can take care of myself and I did." she smiles.
"Mom, Marcus and I were really worried when we visited." I explain.
"I know, I know. I'm glad I got to see you before first period."
"And mom?" I ask.
"Yes?"
"Is Parker- is he really dead?" I hold back tears.
"You need to find that out for yourself. You're smart enough." she winks.
I think of possible ways he could still be alive and then it clicks. He's done it before.
