Unexpected Visit

"The Valkeries? You mean, the rulers of the vampires have joined Eros and his pack?" I asked Cameron. He was the one who jumped out of the tree just as I was about to continue my stroll through the woods. I knew I recognized the scent.

He came baring news. Eros had formed an allegiance with the Valkeries. The Valkeries were the rulers of the vampire-specimen. They were not the friendliest of folks, but powerful they were.

The news meant another war, one that would be unpredictable. It would mean death. My head felt heavy and my heartbeat increased rapidly.

"I have to go warn my pack." I said and started to walk away. "Oh and thank you."

I thanked him and morphed, running back up the path I came down, dodging branches on my way.

"Father! Father!" I yelled when the mansion was in sight. I morphed and ran into the house.

My father and mother came from different rooms in the house in a panic. The rest of the pack came in by the front door when they heard my yelling.

"Audrey, what's wrong?" My mother asked in concern, wiping her hands with a cloth.

"It's Eros. His pack joined The Valkeries and combined their forces." I said without stopping to take a breath of air.

The pack members started mumbling behind me in hushed voices and unease wafted through the mansion.

"What are you talking about, Audrey?"

An all too familiar, venomous voice said and the coldness in his voice made me shudder. A tall silhouette moved in the corner of the room and the person emerged from the shadows.

"It's been a while, sweetheart." The gruff voice said as a smirk played on his lips.

"Eros!" I said shocked and my wolf started to growl.

"It's good to see you two, Rey." He smirked and bit down on his bottom lip.

"Don't call me that! Why are you here?" I growled and backed away.

"I came to visit." He replied arrogantly.

The whole pack, including my mother and father, fell completely silent. Eros took an apple from the bowl on the cabinet and threw it up into the air. He caught it again, before he twirled it perfectly on his finger.

"Sorry for just dropping in like this. I was in the neighborhood and thought I'd drop by. We haven't seen each other in a year, have we?" he smirked. "Now if you'll excuse me, I have some business to take care of and some errands to run, but I am sure we'll be seeing each other more frequently in the future."

Eros took a bite of the apple and winked at me before he walked out of the mansion. Everyone remained silent until I spoke.

"We have to talk to the vampires to join us in battle. We can't fight them off alone." I said and faced my father.

"Audrey, we can't. You know they despise us and the law forbids us to." My father said, but the hint of agreement in his voice was clear.

"Maybe I can change that." I said giving a satisfied grin.

"What are you talking about?" My father and mother asked.

"You'll just have to wait and see." I said and morphed running into the woods.

"Are you sure your people will listen to me?" I asked Cameron as we walked through the woods to the vampire's camp. My father kill me if he knew what I was going to do.

"If it is true and Eros is back with The Valkeries, then they will listen and I am sure they will agree to your proposition." Cameron said reassuringly.

"If they don't?" I asked worringly. My gaze fell to my feet.

"They will. I'm sure of it." He reassured me and placed a hand of comfort on my shoulder.

Cameron led me inside a cabin where the vampires were assembled around a table with glasses of what looked like blood - it probably was blood. I shuddered mentally at the thought, but kept my posture and smiled at them. A few of them returned a kind smile and the rest looked like they would bite into my flesh at that very moment. A pair of hands caressed my shoulders from behind and the person spoke.

"No need to be nervous. We won't harm you." The man said. His voice was loud and scary, but somehow soothing in a manner.

He was the leader of their pack. He looked kind and generous, but never underestimate vampires. At his words, the vampires who seemed hungry for my blood, smiled kindly. Cameron took his place among his kind and beckoned me to start.

"Well, as you all know, Eros and The Valkeries have merged together to form a stronger pack. Unfortunately, we are outnumbered if the wolves would be the only ones to fight against them. If our kinds should fight our own battles against then, we will surely lose. I have thought about it and came to ask if we can set aside our differences and form a new allegiance?" I fiddled with my fingers as I talked.

"So you need our help to win the battle?" A man at the back asked.

"Yes, we know the tactics and fighting methods of the wolves and you know the tactics and fighting methods of the vampires. Together we can discuss a way to fight them off - or best - destroy them forever." I said, gaining a bit more confidence and straightened my posture.

"And you honestly think we will fight alongside your kind? The wolves have killed thousands of us just for the fun of it." The man replied harshly and with a dry humour.

"That was centuries ago during the dark ages. That was different! Besides, your kind killed most of us during the war. So, we are even." I stated coldly.

"What do you know? You weren't even born then." The man laughed and a few others chuckled after him.

"Silence!" The leader slammed his hand on the table leaving behind his hand print. "When do we start?"

"As soon as possible. I will talk to my father and together we'll agree to lift the ban that forces our different kinds to not set foot on each other's territory." I said. A grateful smile replaced the shocked expression on my face.

"We will see you tomorrow?" He asked as he extended out his hand.

"Yes, on the training grounds." I shook his hand and Cameron showed me the way out, walking me back to the mansion.

"See, I told you they'd agree. You are very persuasive." He smirked and wiggled his eyebrows in a playful manner.

"It is only because they are as worried as we are that our packs will be destroyed." I said sadly as we proceeded walking onwards to the border.

"I am afraid I'll have to leave you here. I can't cross over the border." He grinned playfully.

"It will be down tomorrow." I smiled weakly.

"Goodnight Audrey." Cameron smiled back at me.

"Goodnight Cam." I whispered as I shifted and ran the rest of the way to the mansion.

I found my father in his office and I knocked, knowing not to intrude on his privacy.
